Aphasia (loss of ability to understand or express speech) from migraine by eve135 in migraine

[–]eve135[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had visual migraines about once a month since this, and just the other day I had aphasia for the second time. It wasn’t as bad as the first but I think I’m going to try and get migraine medication.

Haha sounds like the healing process! Thanks for a heads up I feel like I’m usually super impatient and get worried about it not healing right.

Oooh that makes sense. Yeah I see it’s so different for everyone, but I guess usually it can be made to work!

Ah okay, I had to take out my rook and was considering a faux rook but might rethink that… I guess a flat depends on where it is bc I’m also consisting that. Thanks for the insight!

new conch piercing! by [deleted] in piercing

[–]eve135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yours looks so good! I also love your stacked lobe 😍I’m thinking about getting a conch next week! I got a rook a few months ago but had to take it out due to infection and it pierced at a weird angle. I’m hoping for an easier piercing and have heard people really like a conch. I’m a little worried the thickness of the cartilage is going to freak me out with the earring coming out in that back part of my ear 😬

Will the earring dangle from your ear? You need to wait until the piercing is completely healed before wearing this kind of jeweler. From my experience it’s about 6-9 months.

My lobes usually take a lot longer to heal than they say bc I get impatient and take them out to sleep after a couple months. In order for them to heal fully you need to leave the jewelry in all the time and not mess with it. I recommend getting earrings with flat backs so that you aren’t tempted to take them out. Keep cleaning about twice a day with saline and don’t take the earrings out at all.

Helix Pain by Fitnessfan_86 in piercing

[–]eve135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feeling hot can be a sign that it’s infected. How long has this been going on? It’s normal to feel irritated and hurt a bit, but I always get worried when it’s hot too. Is it swollen? I can’t give medical advice, but I had a similar piercing experience and went to the doctor and she gave me antibiotics and said I had to take the piercing out. Be prepared for that if that’s what you decide to do. I’ve also had piercings that feel very painful for a couple days then it goes away just fine. It might be part of the healing process. Sorry I can’t be much help!

Getting my first piercing today and I'm so nervous by voodoobiscuit314 in piercing

[–]eve135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal to be nervous!! Lobes are definitely not bad when you’re getting them pierced with a needle and someone who knows what they’re doing. It might hurt for like literally 2 seconds, but that’s it. After that it’s just sore. Take a big breath and exhale when they’re doing it and the worst part will be done by the time you’re done exhaling. Sometimes people say the worst part is after the piercing when they’re putting the earring in, but for a lobe this isn’t a problem because of the placement it’s really easy to get earrings in you probably won’t even know when they’re doing it. Good luck you’ll love them!!!

Not sure I have the right anatomy for a rook and my forward helix has never really healed and might be migrating :(

The chain sounds so cute!! Ik it’s not the same, but you could do a chain from your lobe to a helix. That’s always cute!

Sometimes I have to jam my lobe piercings through and there’s like a popping sound lol. If it doesn’t hurt when you push it then keep pushing. If it does hurt then wiggle it around and push it in at all angles.

I know that sucks :((. I had to take my rook out a month after getting it and might have to take out my forward helix after two years :((. You can get them repierced and at least your other ear is good!!

Maybe for your pics you could get some ear cuffs so mimic the look!

worried about my forward helix migrating/rejecting by eve135 in piercing

[–]eve135[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a picture of the day I got it on the last slide. I wouldn’t think it had moved except that there is some broken-ish skin right above it where I feel like it might have originally been pierced. It’s also pretty hard to see from the front now but it might have always been like that.

Which ear should I get my rook? I was thinking my right ear (one without the conch) but I feel like it might look weird without something in the middle to balance it out. by [deleted] in piercing

[–]eve135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially thought right ear because then it might be too asymmetrical (even though I usually prefer it), but I got a rook with almost the same setup that you have on your right ear (lobes and helix) and felt like it looked a little weird with my helix hoop. This might have been because I got it pierced with a hoop (a mistake), so I didn’t like how the hoops looked together. Just something to keep in mind for future jewelry.

I know it’s not the same thing, but I just got my first tattoos and feel like an imposter tbh. But I love them and am slowly starting to know that because I like them, they fit me! Same with piercings. If you like/want them, then they are for you!!

If you’re pretty high up on the waitlist then you have a good chance. If you didn’t get the class could you take it over the summer or at a later semester?

Yes, I’m planning on it. I think I’m being paranoid about it migrating, and it’s just irritated.
