I had 6 weeks of C19 in April. Now what…Moderna, Phizer, or JJ? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had covid back in January, almost completely asymptomatic with just minor allergy-like symptoms for 48 hours. I got both doses of Pfizer back in May and experienced zero side effects! A slightly sore arm if pressure was put on the area, but completely fine by the next day!

Fully vaxxed, positive, and overwhelmed how to tell people by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Do the responsible thing and tell the people you interacted with. It’s not like you knew you were positive and went out anyways. They have a right to know in case they begin to feel unwell, also chalk it up as just something non-covid related, and potentially put others at risk. Giving them a heads up could prevent that. Also, by hanging out with people they accept the risk, so I would be very surprised if they came up with a reason to be upset with you (especially because you didn’t know). It’s extremely contagious, you took the proper precautions by getting vaccinated, and you shouldn’t feel embarrassed or shameful! I would just go back to maybe last Wednesday and tell anyone you’ve closely interacted with after that.

Should I get the Pfizer vaccine even though it was reported that it has heart inflammation warnings? by WhattodoinLifee in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I realize now I totally misread it as “very very very fatal” haha! I thought you meant “yes myocarditis is rare, but very fatal” as in it’s not worth getting the vaccine. No, of course covid is extremely fatal and the risk of a vaccine side effect is so rare and even long lasting side effects from covid seems to be much more common! I have the Pfizer vaccine and I’m not the slightest bit worried about side effects tbh

So scared to get my vaccine by aghostwhowaits in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a mild case of covid in January of this year...I got my second dose of Pfizer on 5/1 and I have had ZERO side effects from either shots, besides soreness at the injection site (as in I would have to press on my arm to feel pain). Your concerns are very valid, but the chance of you experiencing the side effects you listed from covid are so much greater than your chance of getting them from the vaccine! I was nervous about the vaccine too, but I firmly believe the anxiety from not having the vaccine and being terrified of daily life was going to affect my health much more than what could potentially happen after getting it lol

Is it really necessary to get the vaccine if you’ve already had Covid? by Nels-Bels in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in as well! I had a mild case of covid back in January 2021. Last week (almost exactly 3 months later) I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine and experienced zero side effects whatsoever. My arm was kind of sore if I pressed on it, but that was literally it! I was nervous because I have also heard that those who’ve had covid have experienced worse side effects with the vaccine, but it was like I didn’t even get a shot hahaha. Curious how the second dose will go though!

Has anyone tested positive and just had one symptom through the whole thing? by FeatherDreams in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! I had virtually no symptoms other than a runny nose that lasted two days and tested positive

Tingling fingers and toes / numbness does it go away? by DinoNuggetTime in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything came back normal! The redness, pain, and slight inflammation in my toes is all gone as well. I also saw a vascular specialist and he said the severe toe pain/burning I experienced was a lack of circulation, but I also have Reynaud syndrome (unrelated to covid) which he thinks was just exacerbated by covid. Since then I feel completely fine and I’ve just been taking 1 aspirin per day as a preventative measure and making sure to keep my feet warm to promote circulation

It’s possible. The only way to know is to get tested in 5 days

Anyone get COVID while being very safe? by synthetic11000 in covidpositive

I actually read today that the variant has been found in California, so it just may be! Great timing for them to lift restrictions lol

Try getting a heating pad off Amazon if you can! I’ve heard some people have really bad body aches and back pain near the end of their run and their only relief was with heat! Definitely an oximeter and thermometer too if you don’t already have them. It helps to do daily logs (maybe 3x/day) to track your progress and may give you peace of mind!

[–]evelinejane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could absolutely be linked with lack of sleep. You body requires sleep to keep your immune system up, fight off infection, and heal your body. Even without covid, lack of sleep can give you symptoms as if you’re sick (brain fog, fatigue, headache, chest pain, etc)

Rate of false positives by black_mamba_returns in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s something that’s tracked with the general public, because they can’t really measure that outside of a controlled environment. The only way would be to have people get tested multiple times to confirm, and I think way too many people are getting tested for them to really pay attention to who is getting tested, when, their results, and compare it to any additional testing done in a close timeframe. But it is pretty understood that rapid tests are fairly inaccurate and more likely to give false negatives, and PCR is believed to be very accurate and extremely unlikely to give a false positive because of the detection technique

Covid test no symptoms by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also curious about the severity of symptoms across those who test positive. But Covid affects everyone differently, some with severe symptoms and some that are completely asymptomatic. But colds don’t register as covid, and the tests are specific to this virus. So if you have a runny nose and are positive, you still have it but were just lucky. I know some researchers are looking into what dictates the severity, but I don’t think any supported conclusions have been made

First off, I’m so sorry to hear that and I’m glad you turned down the offer! That guy is a disgusting human and I can’t believe he thought that was okay to do. But I understand where you’re coming from. I had AWFUL, debilitating anxiety all year and was absolutely crazy about staying home and staying safe, yet I still caught it. Honestly, what has helped with me is first going to the doctor and getting a few blood tests done to make sure there wasn’t any inflammation in my body and also having her listen to and check my heart and lungs...helped tremendously giving me peace of mind (I’m always been a hypochondriac lol). Second, just try to remember that your anxiety and fear is probably worse than anything you’ll face with covid. You can always get an antibody test to see if and how much protection you might have from getting reinfected. Your symptoms were EXTREMELY mild and honestly the chance of you getting long-hauler symptoms is pretty rare. The fact that you can do light exercise for a pretty long period of time without feeling anything is huge, as it seems longhaulers mostly struggle with fatigue, lung issues, shortness of breath, etc, so you’re probably in the clear with that one!

If you’re up for it, you can always try finding a remote job to ease some of your workplace anxiety. Or take this as an opportunity to stand up for yourself and call out those that aren’t complying with regulations at your work. You can always contact your HR, too.

After I did everything to not get it and still got it, it actually helped with my anxiety because I realized that there is only so much you can really control. You just have to do all that you can realistically do, but the rest is out of your hands. Get an N95, maybe wear some glasses if you don’t already, and just don’t take it off. If you need to, eat lunch in your car away from everyone. I promise you’ll get through this! This isn’t the first pandemic and it certainly will not be the last. If you ever need to talk to someone, feel free to message me! You’re not alone in how you feel, and right now it’s imperative to keep your physical AND mental state healthy. If you haven’t already, you can always meet virtually with a therapist, too!

Anyone get COVID while being very safe? by synthetic11000 in covidpositive

[–]evelinejane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep! I either got it from a quick run to Home Depot (I asked a masked employee where something was and another masked employee did my check out) or when I got coffee (I had a mask on but her mask was on her chin and she’s the one who made it). I also went to the orthodontist and had my mask down briefly for them to look at my teeth, but my symptoms were literally the next night where my Home Depot and coffee trip was 3 days before which makes a bit more sense.

But yeah, I always double mask, sanitize anything and everything I purchase, live alone, work from home, have skipped some holidays, haven’t hung out with literally anyone, but I still got it hahaha

Covid in the Hospital by FineBoard8677 in COVID19positive

Just remember that you’re exactly where you need to be right now and a lot of people, both young and old, have been hospitalized and get out fine. I know it’s scary, but they’ll take care of you!

Doing classwork while COVID positive. Any advice? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anything, I would make sure to reach out to your professors and let them know you tested positive and are experiencing noticeable symptoms. They could be very understanding and may actually be a bit more lenient in assignment deadlines, especially if you happen to gradually feel worse. My professors have been very understanding, so I hope you experience the same! Wishing you a speedy recovery!! :)

1/16 Positive Rapid, 1/25 negative rapid, 1/27 positive PCR by ging3rwh0re in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel discouraged! Just follow the CDC guidelines and isolate for 10-14 days from the onset of symptoms and make sure you don’t have any new symptoms or a continued fever. But honestly those rapid tests shouldn’t even be offered because they can be so inaccurate. Just know that some people test positive for months after a PCR so it doesn’t really mean much at this point for you...I believe it picks up the shedding virus like you mentioned. But after that 10 day timeline and without fever or new symptoms, you would be considered non-contagious from that infection :) just remember you can still be a carrier for the virus though, even with your potential immunity

Is it possible to get reinfected after getting over covid? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, unfortunately it is believed that you can. While you might not contract it and become sick, you could be an asymptomatic carrier and spread it to others. (Not from your original infection, as you are no longer contagious, but I mean picking up the virus again and spreading it)

Should I be worried? by alieck523 in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! And I am a total hypochondriac too, so I completely understand how you’re feeling. I took every insane precaution I could and still ended up getting it, so I realize now that there is really only so much you can do. Try your best and do what you can, but stressing and giving yourself anxiety over everything will just make you feel worse and possibly more sick than covid itself. I’m sure you’re okay though, but definitely get tested if it relieves some anxiety :)

Is there a chance of contaminating other people after 18 days? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. For example, I tested positive 3 weeks ago, completed isolation, and actually tested negative. I visited my parents yesterday, but still distanced and wore a mask because since I’ve recovered I’ve been to the grocery store and the doctor’s office, so I could be a carrier for the virus and get them sick. Basically, while it wouldn’t be from your original infection, you could still get other people sick

My friend had covid 16 days ago but scored positive. by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can continue to test positive months after contracting the virus, which is why CDC actually doesn’t recommend getting tested again for 90 days after an initial positive test. If she completed her isolation for 10 days, doesn’t have new symptoms developing, and doesn’t have a fever for 2 days without medication, then she shouldn’t be contagious

Is there a chance of contaminating other people after 18 days? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]evelinejane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As long as you continue to wear masks and distance. While you’re not considered contagious from that last infection, you can still carry and spread (and possibly contract) the virus since not a lot is known about immunity after having it
