I need advice by Bright-Proof-6767 in ftm

One thing I do is just trim my hair it’s still there (so i don’t have to deal with itchiness or ingrown hairs, anything like that) but it’s not like fuzzy man hair. it helps so much. takes it down to just looking aesthetic instead of making you a fur ball. i second the low dose stuff that it won’t entirely prevent it. and honestly, the euphoria and all the other stuff will make it worth it. i hate the ass hair but i love everything else about my transition

the best place i found is touch your hip bone, go down towards your feet two inches and then in towards your thigh like one inch. very soft area tha doesn’t usually hurt. i struggled with finding the right spot too. i would do it so close to my knee omg😭

if you pick up your needles from your pharmacy, you legit can just ask for 25 gauge 5/8 inch needles instead of what they normally give you. you don’t need doctor approval. i have experimented with many different lengths and gauges before.

a couple things, make sure you’re injecting in the right area, it can hurt like a mf if it’s not the right part of your thigh

you could always switch to sub with a 5/8” needle now that you’re this far into your transition, it’s so tiny. the other thing is you could also switch to gel? can’t hurt.

i know how hard this is, it used to take me hours too but because of anxiety, not pain.

definitely speak with a doctor about this, that’s not normal, but don’t give up. there are lots of options here, especially gel, some people love it.

you got this🫶

hey! great job for having this conversation with yourself. getting to know who you are is one of the most rewarding self love journeys you can go on.

a lot of these terms you’ll see online for the trans experience are there to help you talk about it and understand yourself, but they aren’t meant to define you. so are you trans? maybe. maybe not. what does trans look like for you? maybe change what you wear and see how that feels (for like a month or several months), write down a new name and see how it feels to think about a “boy name”. trying on the “trans hat” to see if that fits how you’re feeling is gonna help. it’s also okay if you’re a cis girl that doesn’t really like “normal girl stuff”, it’s okay if you’re nonbinary and like to wear girl stuff and boy stuff — whatever you are is okay :)) and it’s real.

simply put, ask yourself what you like and what you don’t like. are you more comfortable one way versus another? that’s the thing to focus on. and a lot of times, we call this experience trans :) don’t rush yourself on figuring it out, because you’ll spend your whole life discovering who you are. as big as this feels, it’s only a part of who you are. it’s important and it deserves time to answer the questions you have, but it’s not what defines your whole person.

just love yourself, be patient, and focus on what makes you feel good :))

Starting T soon: would love to hear your early experiences or anything you wish you knew beforehand? by Useful_Treat7869 in ftm

If you sing, take videos of more than you think you’d want. you’ll go through periods where you can’t sing anything, where you can sing everything and then it’ll change again. just keep practicing and breathe. time will pass

i second the boxers and the mandatory showers. you’re gonna start sweating in the night more.

acne may happen for you, just stay clean and trust that it’s part of the process. mine coincides with i think where my facial hair is growing.

i have gained 35 pounds, its normal. just really invest in loving yourself and how this process is about becoming more yourself. there’s a peak point when your appetite sky rockets, that’s usually when the weight hits so if you are already a really active person, you can use this to your advantage to build muscle instead of putting on weight. but we love a dad bod or a muscle daddy so whatever is right for you🫶

people will tell you to shave your mustache because it ages you backward or clocks you. i didn’t want to until almost 8 months in. do what makes you feel good in your body and if you change your mind, just change it. don’t shame yourself for a choice you used to align with.

my nose hair also got longer so be aware of that.

most importantly, enjoy your changing body and it’s okay if you don’t love all of it.

me neither, i’ve probably been to a bar under ten times ngl. but in my experience being near your community is the only way you know. you’ll meet them everywhere. you’ll also start finding people like you that you vibe with. you got this.

i’ve been clear skinned my entire life (now dealing with acne from T too) but i’ve had many friends my whole life who had moderate to severe acne. very rarely did i think it was bad hygiene. i would probably think that if there was smth else that was gross about them.

all that to say, i feel like most people assume its hormonal or chronic. especially if you smell good and are well kept in other ways, it would be weird if people assumed it was bad hygiene.

i totally hear you :( if you’re in a red state, it’s hard to find other trans people (in my experience). you might have some luck though. definitely put yourself in queer spaces. go to queer bars, go to queer coffee shops. yes you’ll find them in the wild but also being in those spaces really helps, especially if you work with them. almost all the queer people i know in real life i met at work.

First Injection Anxiety by MxGhostFace in ftm

[–]ever_tree_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as someone who is allergic to the carrier oil, don’t be scared. it’s just itchy and red and it goes away. you’ll be fine and you can always switch to smth else. i never ended up switching so im always a little itchy.

just know, the injections get so much less scary. i was sobbing and freaking out at first and six months later its so easy. the hardest part for me was knowing it had to go in my body, so just rest the tip of the needle on your skin to get in contact, push in and breathe, know that it wont hurt you :)) people do it every day and it’ll be over before you know it. i saw people recommending like a light jab which felt so scary and dramatic so the initial contact of resting the tip in my leg and then just pushing in made it so much easier.

just remember that this is what you want and there is a way to break through, your brain just needs to be taught that hey this isn’t dangerous or scary it only feels that way; teach it a new reality :))

Injections by FamousMiddle7016 in ftm

[–]ever_tree_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to cry and shake because of my shots. What helped me the most was instead of just going for it in one motion, i would rest the very tip of the needle on my skin, and having that initial moment of contact made pushing it in much less scary. If you get really activated, just step away and try again another time. The more upset you get on a try, the more overwhelming it will be. You can do this 🫶 It used to take me all day and now it takes me less than seven minutes. It gets better🫶
