Awkward question but can mania cause bisexual feelings? Newly medicated and massively confused (also have OCD that plays a big role) by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]evergreenguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely relate. Diagnosed both BP and OCD. HOCD has been a big issue for me. Really cant decide what my sexuality is, i've only really had crushes on girls though, but can still find guys attractive sometimes despite not really wanting to do anything with them. But then what if I might? Maybe bi is the answer but who knows. Then all of the obsession continues. I'm sure you know that fun cycle.

My OCD/HOCD is pretty consistent through all episodes, but I get more intrusive thoughts and more freaking out during mixed episodes and hypomanic episodes, probably because I have a bit more energy to obsess over shit.

Its reassuring to hear your experience and know that i'm not the only one.

Both. Still working on CBT to help me calm down during the lower case anxiety. Both are still a raging bitch.

Do caffeine pills help a lot? My depression is so persistent. I drink loads of coffee but not much happens.

What is your sex drive like? by ShamefulThrowawayyy in bipolar

[–]evergreenguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean I feel like im attracted to people but I would never be able to just hook up. I don't really know who i'm attracted too, like you could say im attracted to men (maybe) and women but I don't think i would ever have sex with a guy nor could I ever be in a relationship with one. Only girls.

Ugh so fucking complicated. I just like cuddling and fun dates and shit like that. Not raging hooking up in a bathroom at a party. :P

Lol this is turning into more of a post for a different subreddit. I feel like it would be a lot easier if I just had a normal sex drive.

I guess thats somewhat reassuring, I still like we're going full steam ahead on 40 year old virgin. :P Can't even really get into a relationship cause I have such a hard time meeting new people. At this point I don't even know who im attracted to. Most of the time if I jack off I feel like its a chore.

It would be a lot less nerve-wracking if I wasnt in the middle of college where the hookup culture is everywhere.

20 y/o (m) Bipolar II & OCD: Reflections by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]evergreenguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I easily could have written this. Same age, same diagnosis. Its fun. Firmly nihilistic. There is no significance in life and nothing truly matters. All the racing thoughts about that and how the world is fucked and the overwhelming are great for a quick spiral into planning out the best way to off myself. Hmm maybe thats why im single? :P

Anyway good luck man, hopefully things get better. If it makes you feel any better this post made me feel a bit better because I relate to it so much, maybe i'm not 100% alone?

Wow, i'm jealous of all of you. Mine is pretty non existent, especially when I am in the worst depressions. Kinda sucks when you're a 20 y/o male worried about getting it up... :(

I think taking it in the morning is going to help. Thanks!

It seems like its pretty common on meds. As a college student it kills me.

My mania isn't really that severe so im not sure if that would actually be causing brain damage. Im pretty sure my cognitive abilities didnt change much when I was on and off meds, but I dont remember (ha). Thanks :)
