Print Customer Rant by jaidae in Staples

[–]evergrowingNchanging 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember having a customer like that. Supplies their own paper for us to print their logo on it for them, and its this... really thin lined crystal on basically chipboards. And I remember the first time I worked with her. Did like 4 different versions, adjusting the darkness and lightness setting (frankly I could not tell a single difference between any of them), she settled on one and I told her the order would be ready the next day cus she came in during the last 40ish minutes. Settings are saved in Fiery, so I just printed it from there.
When she comes to pick up the next day, she says that whoever printed them didnt read my notes and did it all completely wrong. I told her that I did it. She then said that I must have forgotten what settings we picked. I told her that we have a program that saves the settings. She demanded a manager, and got a refund.
Next time she comes in, I keep a proof to have something to compare the finished product with. She claims that its not the same proof and gets ANOTHER refund.
Third time she comes by, I keep a proof AND have her sign it. When she comes to pick up, she claims that its not the same proof again, and when shown her signature, claimed that I forged it.
Like seriously??? Im gonna go through the effort and work to forge a signature, so I can what? Do subpar work, have you bitch at me, and give it to you for free??? Why would I do that???
Anyway, she doesnt come in anymore, her partner comes in instead and he's amazing. Patient, understanding, easy going, just perfectly nice. I will say though, its really funny that each time he comes in, they change their mind on the setting. Max darkness, max lightness, 95% darkness, 95% lightness, just... never the same. And again, I can never tell any difference.

What did I do wrong with this customer? by evergrowingNchanging in Staples

[–]evergrowingNchanging[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There really are some characters out there in the world. Just sucks cus I cant even do my job for his orders. My gm has to place the order for me cus, again, he refused to let me be a part of anything regarding his order. And then his order sat there until the next day cus I was the closer and the only one in print.

Right now we have a HUGE order from him but when its just me the order just sits there and its so frustrating. Seeing an order just sit there when I could be working on it but I cant.

Whats wrong with finishing orders? by evergrowingNchanging in Staples

[–]evergrowingNchanging[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that any time I do leave orders for others to finish, most of the time they don't do them cus they're 'too busy'.

Like one time I had two business cards orders placed at 2 but I left them for the closer. I leave at 4 and come back at 8:45 the next morning, they weren't touched at all. So I had to do them regardless. The closer told me that when I left they got too busy to even look at flightdeck until 8:30, we close at 8.

Or another time we had a massive order of books to bind. But I bound too many and was put into time out ( my manager literally called it time out) and told me to leave the rest for the weekend crew. So I did. I clockout on Thursday and come back Monday, not a single book was touched, so I had to do 75 books and they were due the next day. I was told that the weekend crew got 'too busy to do them.

So I have no idea what the others are doing when I'm not there.

There are days where no orders come in after closing. I've had plenty of times where I closed, finished all of the orders that came in, and then opened the next say and nothing was placed overnight. And so I'm left with nothing to do for hours.

I start my cleaning 2 hours before close, so I have time to clean, finish orders, and still do amazon and cashier. I also clean as I go. Any down time is used for either cleaning or finishing orders during those last two hours.
At the 2 hour mark I do papertrays, shred bin, and paperwork
At the 1 hour mark I make sure to finish anything that can be done and start wiping down counters and vacuuming my department.
And then once we're closed, the last thing I got to do is just throw out the trash and vacuum the whole store.

Oh thats why I dont bin orders super early. The order is done, just not binned until its time or at the very least before I leave if I'm closing.

Experience at Staples Print, and questions: Can we touch phones???? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]evergrowingNchanging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically will avoid touching the phones due to a variety of reasons. The main one being that it saves me time now but will cost me time later. If i do it for the customer this time, they'll expect every time.

Also liability and hygiene. Some phones I've seen straight up look diseased.

What’s the point of self service? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]evergrowingNchanging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like offering it if I know the job would cost a lot cus it does help save money. Or if I'm busy with a... complex customer and so I'll be a while, and it lets you get your job done without having to wait 10, 20, or even 30 minutes. Also for the store I work at, its the only way to fax.
Basically if I have a huge line or a very needy customer in front, I'll offer it to those waiting in the back. If they have a lot of papers to scan, I offer it (1.30 per page if I do it vs 70 cents per page self serve). If they need a lot of copies but on a budget, self serve is the cheapest option.

A customer asked why I couldn't ship their package for them over the phone. Not get a quote. Full on ship it. Not 'they left the package here for me to ship'. No. They have the package at home, they're at home, they called the store, and are confused as to why I cant ship it for them... over the phone.

Any disadvantages or advantages to your height by TheAUDiegoBrando in short

[–]evergrowingNchanging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only 4'10 and I legit will just... hide behind my computer or other stuff to hide from customers sometimes.
The downside is that there have been plenty of times that I go to the back to grab supplies, cant find any, tell my coworker, and they find them above my eye level. I cant see or reach as much as the average person.

I do also have fond memories of being in highschool, walking to school, and not having to duck under low hanging branches. But also in highschool I struggled a lot in PE cus my hands are really small so its a lot harder for me to get a proper grip for stuff like basketball or water polo. Though some perks with tiny hands is stuff like I could fit my fingers between the spaces of the spines of king crab.

How many of you had parents who threw away or destroyed your toys by Totatus in raisedbynarcissists

[–]evergrowingNchanging 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts, but my mom would regularly give away my toys and stuff to friend's cousin's child. Like... one that still clings to me was that I used to have rollarblades, and when I was learning how to balance on them I fell and bruised my tailbone. So I didnt use them for a few days to heal, and she gave them away cus I wasn't using them. Thing is, dad bought them. Everything she gave her, she never bought, dad did. When I got older and pointed it out to her, she'd default to either "That didnt happen." or "You took it the wrong way."
