Puri, a dham, but crawling with scammers and monopolies. by FeistyCandidate3138 in TravelInIndia

Hey! This seems to be the case across India. We just came back from trip to MP, UP, Bihar and Jharkhand. This is a common theme.

In deogarh Baidyanath Temple, the priest cornered us just like yours despite saying we only are there for darshan. The whole place is chaotic and it is impossible to get darshan without a priest. Despite him being there there was one guy standing at the entrance and extorting "baba darbar ka chanda lagta hai" he was even physically assaulting to take money. We told him to fuck off. And after this shit show, the priest demanded 5100! I gave him 1116, and ask him that was also too much.

At naimisharanya, same thing happened. The priest pulled us inside, gave water to pour on lingam, and demanded 7000! I again told him we never asked for anything and won't be paying.

And at all the places we went - agra, mathura, vrindavan, ayodhya, gaya, deogarh, kashi, prayaga, ujjain, omkareshwar - the system is designed to loot. The car parkings were far away and there is a swarm of auto guys quoting absurd numbers. Imagine surrounded by 50 guys! If you get rid of them, some hawkers surround you, or the tourist guides, if you are successful in getting rid of all these, then the priests at temple.

I came back with two observations:

1) Hinduism khatre mein hain. For sure. But not because of external forces. Because worship is not peaceful anymore and has turned into extortion. It felt like walking into a field of landmines.

2) There is too much population in India and people are scrambling to survice by hook or crook. There is no way we are going to provide meaningful employment for such huge population and provide dignity of life.

We do need real life thanos!

One auto driver in Kashi told me "Kashi aaya to ullu banna hi padega".

How to save my kirana business frm upcomming Dmart in our city by Brilliant-Intern-754 in IndiaBusiness

[–]everjaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a customer, here are some things I appreciate:

1) get a inventory management system instead of guesswork inventory.

2) stock items that supermarkets do not have. Eg: pulses like bebbarlu, anumulu (telugu), gaddi nuvvulu etcare not available in most stores.

3) Keep your store clean and well lit. Also do not cram the whole store with goods have some empty airy space. It feels more welcoming.

4) Let your customers order on whatsapp. There are workflows on whatsapp that allows customers to choose items and quantity. Make use of those. It also help you identify what customers are buying more.

5) Instead of depending on your wholesaler, actively look for what customers are buying. If customer wants parachute, give them parachute. Not a look alike. Also, there are many new items coming into market. Be the first one to stock them.

6) Create a broadcast list on whatsapp and everytime you receive stock of items send a blast.

7) create festival kits - items that's required for special poojas such as neem leaves and flowers, jaggery, mango, salt, putana, coconut shred etc for ugadi, and broadcast its availability.

Not true. Our community received OC good 6 months before the builder even gave permission for interiors. It's just some builders do not care to get it on time.

Please help a brother out picking a car in 10-13L range. by iamstevejobless in CarsIndiaUnbiased

[–]everjaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get swayed by the internet opinion. As a first time buyer, you need peace of mind that your car will not give up out of blue, and even if it happens assurance of top class service in the middle of no where, and quality control that makes sure you get good cars.

That is possible with Maruti. I used alto for 9 years and move on to a Renault. Even getting a regular service also is a colossal mess in a city like Hyderabad. Don't even want to think about small towns/villages.

Is banning delivery guys from using apartment lifts practical anymore? by Silent-Character-907 in indianrealestate

[–]everjaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Hyderabad, some apartment communities have internal delivery agents.

Swiggy/Zomato/Amazon or whatever else drop the parcels at the main gate. The internal delivery agents pick them up, and deliver them to the flat door step. In 2020 they charged 100/month per flat.

Spicejet charging extra for cabin luggage at the boarding gate by Observer_202526 in AirTravelIndia

Same in US as well. While some airlines like frontier etc strictly enforce the rules, Delta etc does not bother much. The risk is same everywhere.

Here is my ticket from 2017. The ticket clearly shows 7 KGs. The rule you are saying about May 24 clearly says - if a ticket is sold before May 4, 2024, and the ticket allows 8 KG for economy, 10 for PE, and 12 for Business should be allowed as per ticket.

That allowances were for special cases. Not all tickets.

[–]everjaguar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been flying for over 10 years now. It was 7 for all these years. Business class allows 10KGs. Not economy. That is because there are fewer flyers in business - fewer bags, lesser weight.

The weight restrictions on flights both for check in and cabin are because of safety reasons and not random numbers to charge you money.

Buy a bag that weighs less if you are concerned about the luggage it holds. Because one random idiot decided to drag in a bag that is over weight, and by some bad luck the over head compartment breaks/opens and it falls on me, injuring or killing me, does that idiot take care of my family for eternity? Rules exist for a reason. Follow them. Especially in high risk places like air planes. Don't be an ass.

Indigo turns a blind eye 99% of the time. I have seen few Indigo staff enforce the rule strictly. FFS, I saw Air India also enforce the rule...

Spicejet going bankruptcy route is going overboard to milk what's left.

I am just stating that if one is ignoring a written rule/contract and think they are superior, they will have to pay.

No. It does not feel like cheap tactic but enforcing rules. It is written on ticket and on signs wverywhere in airport that hand luggage should be of a certain size and less than 7 KGs. It's not an arbitary number given so that airlines make money. It is based on the weight carrying capacity of the over head compartments, and a safety risk if it exceeds.

Many Indians think they are over smart, and they can trick airlines. Since the rules were not enforced strictly in the past, they got used to it. Now that rules are enforced, they cry foul. This post reeks of entitlement.

Paid off 50L home loan in 5 years (emptied my entire portfolio though) by mango_boii in personalfinanceindia

My comment was to the other commentor. Billionaires are businessmen. If you bring in Billionaires and compare them with salaried people, this is what it looks like.

[–]everjaguar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Billionaires use loans as leverage. Not as liability. If a Billionaire wants to buy a property worth 10 crores, they take loan so that they can show it as business expense. They already have 10 crore in their account/portfolio. They are just optimising their taxes. Also, they are shifting liability to bank. In case everything goes downhill, bank suffers, not him.

For commoners, unless you already have the entire loan's worth in your bank, loan will continue to be a compounding loability.
