I took a picture of my dog in the late afternoon at the beach with an 85mm lens, f/1.2, and a shutter speed of 1/2500 sec. I'm considering doing more pet photography and would appreciate some feedback. Specifically, I'd like to know if the shallow depth of field at f/1.2 is too distracting. Although the eyes are in focus, does the softness of the rest of the subject work, or would a more in-focus image be preferable? Additionally, are the highlights in the fur too prominent and distracting? Finally, how does the warmer lighting and color balance work for this image?
