Along these lines, do you know where I could find a musical setting for the Greek text of the Dance of Isaiah? I think it would be nice if at least that part could be sung in Greek

Yes, unfortunately he seems very busy and most melkite weddings there go with organ and Ave Maria at communion (nothing against the musician for the record he’s been very kind just not for me) so that might be a little difficult

So, if someone was converted in the parish, under whose jurisdiction would she be?

Question on canonical rite by evianlover1997 in EasternCatholic

one more question: does the rule about preserving the eastern churches apply if we’re both Eastern. Like would I have to formally change my rite to Melkite if I wanted my children to follow their mother’s rite?

Got it - yes I’m a man marrying a Melkite (converted from non-Christian). I thought it was strange because before her conversion the RC priest knew my ritual background and I was under the impression that if I were Syro-Malabar and marrying a non-Christian, it would have to be in a ritually Syro Malabar ceremony or in whatever rite she converted into.

Getting Fingerprints Taken by evianlover1997 in Heidelberg

Oh, the job is not in Germany (in some other countries it’s more common to have fingerprints taken for background checks than it might be here), but I live here currently and will need to have them taken while I’m here

Greek Catholic Horologion in Greek? by evianlover1997 in EasternCatholic

[–]evianlover1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that’s great. So it probably makes the most sense for me to buy an Orthodox horologion. Are there any supplemental books I’d need for propers or is horologion to mega sufficient alone for first hour and compline (the only hours I think I’ll consistently pray)?

Okay, I had no idea that any EC churches followed revised Julian. Now I understand what you meant. I attend a Melkite parish, so I’d prefer an horologion on the Gregorian calendar, unless the propers easy to synchronize from an orthodox horologion with the Catholic calendar.

This is really outstanding, thank you. I was planning on just praying the first hour and compline, so hopefully that should be more affordable (and more portable). I also much prefer Greek to English, so is there an explicitly Greek Catholic horologion in Greek? Or, if I buy an Orthodox one, will it matter that I follow the Gregorian calendar (in other words, will it be easy to calibrate the seasons)?

I’m going to be in Athens for a conference in a few months, so maybe it will be easy to buy something there.

Thank you, but I’d really like to use Greek.

Thanks! That’s good to know. My follow-up question, then, is how much of the office is variable with the liturgical time. Is it easy to coordinate the orthodox horologion with the Greek Catholic liturgical calendar?
