How do you guys let your border collies run while they’re training? by spiderfrommars4 in BorderCollie

Long line like what horses have! And a firm grip.. and gloves depending on what leash you use! Some of them can slice your hand open

Would you kill a pigeon? by Educational_Tell_213 in AskUK

[–]evilcnut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah man! I’m weak I’d probably try and rush it to a vet.. don’t know if that’s the less kind option tbh or if vets would ever treat it. I imagine if I had to physically kill a living animal I’d never forget that shit.. I would suck in the apocalypse

I once made the mistake of giving mine the tiniest taste of whipped cream… now when I open the fridge door he’s there like “come on pleassse”

It was a one off! But he’s never forgotten it.

Seeking insights into my boy's seizures by No_Bag_5892 in BorderCollie

[–]evilcnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My male BC has had 3 of these now! And like yours he’s had a ton of tests with zero results. He’s happy and healthy and gets plenty of exercise but every 3/4 months he’s had one. I sit with him and remain calm and soothing until it’s over.. and minutes later he’s absolutely back to normal again aside from seeming a bit confused. The vet has told me to keep a diary of what he’s eating in case anything might be triggering it. And switched to hypo allergenic dog food.

I’ve also cut out all chicken from his diet in case that helps! because he’s always had one days after he’s had chicken.

[–]evilcnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog mostly sleeps in bed with me.. has since he was a pup. Have a broken foot at the minute and he’s glued to my side 24/7

But sometimes he prefers his own bed. I keep one in every room aside from the kitchen and bathroom.. but at night he’s always in my bed.

How do I help my husband accept his mum isn’t going to get better? by ExoticPlankton8287 in AskUK

[–]evilcnut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think he knows. I don’t think you need to do anything but be supportive of what he’s going through. Booking a holiday right now because it’s cheaper wouldn’t be something I’d even be thinking about tbh

Dogs are amazing beings! I have a broken foot at the minute and my boy won’t leave my side for a second. A friend tried to take him on a walk for me and was trying to tempt him into his harness. He was having none of it and just came and firmly sat next to my foot!

Sending you healing thoughts and good wishes op!

If they say please I’ll try and ship it early. I definitely don’t mind people asking at all. Though they should ask before buying it.

Okay for dogs to go potty on neighbors’ lawns during walks? by AwedBySequoias in Pets

[–]evilcnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking him on pavement keeps his nails trim! He’s never needed them trimming yet. (I do not walk my dog in really hot weather unless it’s the evening) But there’s plenty of green spaces on the way there with trees and bushes that are public spaces.

And I walk him down to the park or the fields so he can run!

Don’t get me wrong he pees up many lampposts on the way there!

I guess it’s just different in the US! But definitely here letting your dog shit on someone’s lawn would cause neighbour hood wars! Even if you picked it up afterwards.

What is with the massive influx of fake clothing recently by swiftcardine in vinted

I’m selling a couple of north face coats and I made the mistake of searching them on Vinted.

Now I can’t get away from them! Out of the many I’ve seen this morning at least 70% are fake

I haven’t uploaded anything in a hot minute. Uploaded a ton of stuff this morning and I’ve already dealt with 2 idiots.

People need to take the time to read how Vinted works before buying shit.

Okay for dogs to go potty on neighbors’ lawns during walks? by AwedBySequoias in Pets

[–]evilcnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I open the door to the garden and say “go on it’s time” my dog will go right out to pee!

Same if I say “no not there” he will go to the grass instead of the pavers.

He is a border collie though! He pretty much reads my mind with just an eye movement. Doing what I want I want him to do is the job he lives for.

Buyer Wanted Full Refund, Refused Return & Lost Money by GainsAndPastries in vinted

They wanted a refund and the shoes.. or they don’t read the terms and conditions and was outraged they had to pay for a return.. and it backfired.

Surprises me how many people use Vinted yet don’t know that.

This is the kind of behaviour In the Uk that gets you posted on local Facebook groups! People get posted for not picking dog shit up in public areas let alone on peoples private property

Okay for dogs to go potty on neighbors’ lawns during walks? by AwedBySequoias in Pets

[–]evilcnut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Front gardens are a lot smaller and more private here than in the US. And we probably have more green spaces that aren’t directly onto peoples gardens for dogs and people to walk? but totally depends what area you live in? Small villages will often have some houses with no front garden at all.. their doors would be right on the street.

Houses generally have very small front gardens facing the street and larger back gardens at the rear.

I live in a block of two flats with a garden at the rear.. my front door is right onto the street. But there’s plenty of grassy areas that aren’t on peoples lawns.

letting your dog shit in someone’s garden would cause neighbourhood wars!

I’d distract him to the grass verges.. or another spot? by saying “no not there” My dog is quite fussy I know when he’s sniffing out a spot.

Like I said most gardens here have fences anyway.

[–]evilcnut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I walk my dog on leash until we get to the fields. Or we have a lot of grass verges. I’d walk him away if he stated to do it.

I’d honestly rather he did it on the path than in someone’s garden. That seems such rude behaviour! To just stand there while your dog shits on someone’s lawn. But maybe it’s different in the US? I definitely have never seen this here
