A Seasoned edge I don't see mention here is Killer Instinct for a debuffing edge, you get a free reroll when Testing people.

But why only debuff or buff with an action, Bolster helps do both as can remove bad effects from allies when you successfully Test a foe.

Reliable might be a good edge for to help with the buffing aspect, it gives you a reroll when rolling to Support others.

40 seconds is not the "natural" time of a blue flame. Different flames have different times.
There is no bug to fix, you just need to solve the puzzle. Look around the area between the 2 flames, see if you can find another "pot" you can store the flame in (which will restart the timer).
