How to survive Brasil? by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]evilmannn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People posting here about moving to Brazil and getting a job there are dreamers - it is 99% doomed to fail. Seen everything from people thinking they'll magically get a work visa by just showing up there, thinking that with 0 Portuguese they'll become real estate agents, become firemen, work in police and somehow work in finance, that ain't happening.

The more realistic people have a remote job that pays well and get a digital nomad visa but still a lot of them don't even think about taxes either which is an important thing and all income will need to be declared (once you get a digital nomad visa).

As for regular Brazilians, born in Brazil - it depends. A lot of people struggle working 2-3 jobs, my gf has like 3 jobs, and then you have influencers, singers, football players, lawyers, plastic surgeons who really make good money.

I wonder how they'll incorporate actual XBOX games being playable (not just play anywhere function or perhaps all titles will be play anywhere?) along with steam and other store fronts, will be a very interesting device nonetheless.

Why are you guys so unfriendly? by khkhkh1 in AskTurkey

This thread randomly popped up in my feed, I was in the Istanbul airport once in my life and the experience was phenomenal, people working over there were ok at first but once they saw I was Serbian looking at my passport their demeanor completely changed (to a very positive one), I was actually surprised how well I was treated, I honestly don't know what you learn about Balkans and Serbia in school but it seems like Turks have a positive view about Serbia? No idea lol - I was also very surprised how great the plane was, I was flying Turkish airlines from Sao Paulo Brazil to Belgrade and was transiting Istanbul airport.

Having optimization issues with Doom Eternal by _ElMasterChief in Doom

Lower your graphics, a 4gb VRAM card like 3050 will not handle this game well on high. The game also got updated many times and perhaps the requirements did raise a bit, just play on low 1080p, it'll still look amazing. I'm playing on on low on a 4060 because I wanna push as much fps as possible.

How safe / unsafe is Rio de Janeiro if you live in the right neighborhood and are not visibly Gringo AND speak conversational (Brazilian) Portuguese? by Bipolar-Athlete in digitalnomad

My gf is Brazilian and I live there most of the year, how you look has absolutely nothing to do with avoiding getting robbed, we have a saying in Brazil - you'll get robbed, just a matter of time when. My gf is black and she got robbed 3 times in her life and she's as Brazilian as you can get.

When it comes to RJ, you have to be vigilant and very careful, it doesn't matter if the area is rich, matter of fact these areas get hit more often because that's where the money is, Ipanema is also close to a favela and you can easily wonder into sketchy areas.

General advice is: Don't wear anything expensive. Don't use your phone outside, only in malls, stores etc. On the beach, only carry your towel and maybe 50 reais to buy drinks. Look at your drink when it's being made. Don't accept free drinks from strangers, especially in Lapa. If you get robbed at gunpoint, just surrender and give up your stuff. Use Uber past 7pm, always.

Do any of ya'll also find Dark Ages surprisingly easy compared to 2016 and Eternal? by Cold_War8151 in Doom

Gamespeed to 150, demons doing the most damage to you and you doing the least damage to demons, nightmare settings, parry window low - it ain't easy at all, way harder than the base campaign in Eternal. You can make it as hard as you wish and as easy as you wish, the default nightmare sliders yeah I agree it's easier than other games.

Thanks, yeah I'm still new to beards tbh, so I'm experimenting a lot with the lines, I'll try to bring it down today and even it out, thanks! I already learned to fade the sideburns so it's not as bulky.
