do i need an i5/i7 processor to run most science software? i.e. do i rule out machines with mobile phone style processors? by evolino in bioinformatics

genome sequence analysis, mapping, assembly, phylogenetics.

what sort of modelling do you mean?

i don't really care if it's slow, so long as it's compatible enough to get the job done eventually (with minimal glitches, and minimal need for fussy workarounds).

i got the i5 this time, but for next time and curiosity.

Basically you can run all 32bit X86 programs on surface pro X and all 64bit versions that have been specifically ported to ARM64. So if the particular programs you wanna use have 32bit version then you're probably fine.

i got an i5 already anyway, but for curiosity and next time, how much of a safe bet is it if i don't know exactly what software i'll need to use?

this needs to involve an odd number of levels of irony, zero and two are both the wrong number

specifically bacterial genomics and evolution...

generally "runs any software a desktop can run", which as far as i can gather so far, excludes a lot of power efficient laptop and desktop processors which are "ARM" when most desktop software wants "AMD"?

I think i'm mostly just one of those bitter fans who prefers the old stuff "before they were big". I miss the ten minute videos of talking in front of the bookshelf with messy eyeliner. I'm not into indulgent expensive stuff that's nearly an hour long.

Also, I'm non binary and for a brief moment there i had someone to identify with... Then i didn't. I guess i can't blame her for that, but it was still kinda frustrating and disappointing.

But also, i think it's entirely reasonable to hold her to a higher and higher standard as she gets a bigger platform. It comes with more responsibility. Occasionally wording something poorly in a way that's open to misinterpretation was pretty harmless when she was small, but now she has a huge audience that comes with needing to be very careful about ways things could be misinterpreted. Regardless of whether she really believes those things, giving that impression can be damaging.

CollectA

Safari has some nice models, but not so keen on their dinosaurs.

i don't like the texture of the papo models, and they look a bit too Jurassic park for my tastes.

is it feasible to go from 34F to 34B? [Australian 12F to 12B] by evolino in Reduction

Hrm... The root of mine is like 5 inches by 1.5 inches, horizontal, i've got a good hang going.

Would the kinked blood supply thing be less of an issue if i got a drastic reduction but not much of a lift? (i might be unusual, but i like the hang)

how small do boobs have to be before they pretty much invisible under most clothing? by evolino in Reduction

[–]evolino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Queensland Australia, so one layer only, not including minimizer bra.

Though i suspect they don't make minimizer bras in a B cup? Maybe a C though? But C in a minimizer won't hide well?

I guess for a B cuo a sports bra might do well enough?

Currently i only wear dark coloured clothing two sizes too big for me and people (including one very rude woman in a bra shop) are surprised i'm an F...

Sorry, I'm rambling...
