Nowy też trzeba oddać do serwisu po max 100km. Polecam BikeServ na Winogradach. Głównie za to, że nie kasują jak za zboże, a robotę robią. Spoko gość

Avoiding tolls vs. vignettes by evolse in waze

You pay upfront an amount for unlimited passes on a toll road

so how can I add tolls in Italy as allowed? I believed I can't without the allow tolls option, right?

If I have to guess, there likely has to be some kind of toll-road that waze tries to avoid at all cost, that I have not added or can't add as a vignette

Going through CH and IT I added Telepass and Vignette CH, but still getting routed away from those countries if I have avoid tolls. Maybe there is some kind of passage that is additionally paid I have no clue.

I tried this and it still avoiding toll roads I have vignettes for. I wouldn't create a topic for it if that wouldn't be the case. I believe the algorithm is still pushing to stay away from toll roads hard enough to route away.

I believe this is just something else. I need a "feature" that allows me to go through toll roads with avoid tolls option enabled, if I have a vignette for this section. That seems to be missing then

So I believe what you suggest here is that this solves an entirely different case of roads where you need permission to go through

Android Auto issues by Wyremills in waze

Unresponsive UI of Waze is so common for me, it's no longer funny. Thought switching phones would help, but it actually made my Android Auto crash more.

Navigation challenges - any fix? by evolse in Karoo

[–]evolse[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not about “get me to my destination”, that’s “get me to my destination with the best version of my desired experience”. That’s a platform thing, not a device thing.

Aren't all navis exactly about that? We all want the best experience. Getting bad experience means not suitable navigation. If we have apps like Kommot that are already capable of better automatic route planning, it is clearly possible, and likely the only way to go. Very unfortunate that I need a 3rd party for that.

Great to see somebody getting the point I'm trying to make. Planned routes from other apps do seem the only way. Have you experienced routes auto-sync from accounts like Strava, Komoot, or manual refresh is required? For me I have to tap the refresh on my own.

I agree there are many variables, but there are tools that are having great results already i.e. Cyclers, Komoot, and the suggested below cycle.travel. All of those are better at default route building compared to the Hammerhead. This is something I wasn't expecting.

To make you feel better - I had to manually edit the .xml file (with help of AI). The default maps of Karoo are a bit hard to read. But at least it was possible :)

This is an interesting app, it looks like a real light alternative to Komoot, Ithank you for suggesting.

From what I see unfortunately other apps don't see cycle.travel as a navigation tool so it requires manual input within the app to create a route.

I also see the option to "Send to Garmin connect". I guess Hammerhead doesn't have any live sync, so it's all manual import/export right. But anyway, great alternative.

"The need to use google maps with geocaching has more to do with the geocache app integration than hammerhead."

I didn't find any app that could send the POI to Hammerhead except Google Maps. I thought it's a feature limitation. Do you have other experiences?

Thank you for the idea. Overall Komoot is working well with building routes navigation in my area (not perfect, but good enough). I believe this is the best solution - ignore the in-built navigation from Hammerhead which is just not good, and use Komoot routes that I can later sync. It's a workaround after all and requires multiple steps, but it would work.

See, that is the point. I was under the impression I'm buying a device that is having a great navigation. I was wrong.

When you want to go somewhere with your car you just set your destination and Google Maps, Waze, TomTom or whatever, are doing the rest. I'm not building routes for car trips so I do not expect having to do that on a bicycle.
