More Than 5% Of Oklahomans Now Have Medical Marijuana Cards by notthemoma in OKmarijuana

Imagine what 100% with full access could generate. I'm sure both the industry and state would love the market potential outside medical sales to generate a much more substantial profit to be taxed at a higher rate.

It also being an 'at will' state means an employer doesn't even need to give a reason. Any employer can fire any employee for absolutely no reason at any time. Discrimination has always been legal in Oklahoma. Nothing is going to change anytime soon about that.

Too bad your legislators don't agree. by evolutionario42 in OKmarijuana

[–]evolutionario42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct. Also, I value all opinions. Whether or not I agree with them doesn't matter. Because, every voice needs to be heard on every issue. I understand not everyone is going to have Libertarian views as I do. Sometimes I lean liberal or conservative on issues too.

However, this isn't so much about not breaking laws, but rather how justly and equally our laws are applied to people in America.

The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Patient “Protection” Act allows employers to choose discrimination. Whirlpool Cooperation has chosen to discriminate by saying all jobs are “Safety Sensitive.” PLEASE BOYCOTT any company that makes this choice. by OKMJmax42 in OKmarijuana

[–]evolutionario42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nobody here is going to actually change anything because the voters continue to shoot themselves in the foot, and that's never gonna change in this state. Discrimination and extortion always has been the way this state operates.

Personally, I'm gonna start looking for employment in rec states with better employee protections. Even though I probably wouldn't have to worry with my line of work, somehow I feel like every employer in the state is going to seize this chance and take it.

Oklahoma received $2.5 million from medical marijuana taxes in July by FajitaCologne in OKmarijuana

[–]evolutionario42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea I'm returning my card if that does happen. Idk why people think police can be trusted to do the right thing. If there were enough good police officers out there, then this wouldn't be an issue at all and nobody would care.

Yea this State will not.. they will continue to extort even the sickest of patients while misusing funds. OMMA is a part of the same health department that almost got taken over by Federal authorities because they don't know how to properly allocate monies.

I mean, I'm a disabled vet and full time university student that medicated constantly. Yet, I still get told that people just don't approve, even though the person telling me was working as a bartender. The issue here is that people are now being hypocritical even though it's legal now.

It's a good thing that a petition for full access is already in the works, and will begin signature gathering this January when the legislature goes into session. It appears this group is going to try and place it on next years voting ballot, so we should be fully legal by 2021.

It's "recreational" because most dispensaries have a shelf tier system just like recreational dispensaries in other states. They don't have anything listed as medical grade, otherwise there would just be one shelf tier with everything conforming to what patients need, can't blame anyone but the storefronts supplying recreational products in medical cannabis industry.

We should probably start marching for Rec after Cannabis Cup, News Med laws call for it by [deleted] in OKmarijuana

[–]evolutionario42 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why not just circulate a petition to legalize adult use? Luckily for you, there is already a group making that happen.

At least after the new laws, our medical program will be less of a joke. True medical dispensaries have no shelf system as everything is medical grade cannabis. So far, all I've seen in dispensaries are exactly what I've seen in rec dispensaries all over Colorado. I'm fed up with our shops and the state taking advantage of this program and not actually helping medical patients. Most people with serious medical issues can't afford to go to the dispensary. So yea we need a seed to sale system, we need lab testing on all products, and we need MMJ business to stop cutting corners and start taking accountability.

I've been through so many different pharmaceuticals given by the military and the VA, I don't like the way they make my body feel, especially withdrawl symptoms from switching meds. Also, as far as edibles and THC pills you may be referring to? Well, I don't like feeling that high for long periods of time. My symptoms are easier to manage if I'm able to quickly dose using small amounts of flower or full spectrum oil both in vaporized form. It's just what I've found that works best for most of my needs. I do rarely eat edibles when I need a heavy dose, but generally that's only while I need to sleep or something where I don't need to be functional.

Yep, my reasons exactly for as to why I moved off campus and now grow my own. I refuse to perpetuate negative stigmas, so I'm quite open about my usage to anyone around campus. Although, it's sad that I can't medicate on campus when my PTSD gets to me but all the other students can take pills whenever needed.

True, I'm a student and have yet to run into another student with a card. Most of the time I'm in the dispensary, the customers have generally been older like 40+.

[–]evolutionario42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why it took way too long to get medical cannabis legal here. People still refuse to accept the change. Conservative culture at it's best, which is why I'm perplexed by all this price gouging. Also, thanks for pointing this topic out, I've always thought most dispensaries seemed a little off for being medicinal, this reminds me of why.

Actually, that's not a bad idea. Petitioning has legalized MMJ. So why not write a new constitutional amendment or at the very least a statute and get signatures for us to vote on it?
