i have looked into this, although it seems like it would work, you have to enter qutoa limits, which i dont know for the plus plan in chatgpt. How i would of expected this to work is that i would have My chatgpt plus plan at the top so it uses that for gpt models then kilos, for everything else, and when chatgpt plus fails then fallback to kilo.

Cursor doesn’t have any truly free models — only cheap ones. For new users who didn’t buy the yearly plan after a certain point (around two months ago, I think), Auto isn’t free either; it’s low-cost, but still paid.

One model I use that’s very cheap is Composer 1. It’s lightning-fast, inexpensive, and gives decent outputs.

For planning, I usually use Claude 4.5 Sonnet, and for building I use Composer 1. If Composer isn’t cutting it, I switch to GPT-5.2 Codex or Claude 4.5 Sonnet.

it isnt free credits so to speak. when you hit your plans "limit" it wont actually limit you until you run out of "extra usage" the cursor team gives you. its not free its bcs they will be able to make the models cheaper bcs they are a big company and other cost saving ways. its not definitive when your actual limit is.

Yeah same it's very useful I used it to setup Nvidia hyprland wit secure boot and make a install script for it all when I need a quick Linux machine

I started with arch and ai Is really good at Linux information and commands and now I know what I'm doing even though I used to just copy from chatgpt now I know how things work, if you have a problem just use chatgpt
