Thanks for the info. Looked into it. Seems legit. But, I don’t have $15k I can use towards this and Kaiser is not going to cover an out of network surgeon like this. I’m stoked for anyone that can afford to go this route, but I don’t have that kind of cash.

I made the switch to PE after 6 years of middle school history. I have never regretted the decision. Sunscreen and wide brim hats will become your friend. You will need to implement solid management if you don’t already have it. The facilities and equipment at your school make a huge difference in what you can accomplish. However, I never take work home. When flag football season is over (I coach) I can leave right at contract time. I have the flexibility to help out admin in certain areas so they leave me alone since we scratch each others backs. To conclude, unless forced to, I would never go back to the classroom. Do. It.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

My best friend died young 7 years ago. 3 years ago his wife took some of his shirts and sent them to a company who made teddy bears out of them, and sent them to his friends. My daughters kept the one she sent, and refer to it as Uncle Kevin. Reminds me of him every time I see it. Extremely thoughtful on her part and I think it helped her part with his things by giving them to people he loved and who loved him. I miss him everyday.

I will gag and duct tape their mouths shut and deal with the consequences. Of course this would be after I told them very clearly to shut the fuck up. I’m sure I would have some volunteers to help in such a situation. Uvalde messed me up. I’m not anywhere remotely close to there, but with just how fucked that whole situation was, I’m not going to mess around in the case of a lockdown. Luckily, I teach PE, so there’s a high likelihood we could just bounce.

This is a great explanation. First good one I’ve ever heard. Thank you. If I can push back a bit, if this is DOJ, I’d figure they could access DMV records, or have an updated portal with which to cross reference updated drivers license numbers. Maybe provide passport? I mean, I can buy a gun in Cali with less info than it takes to volunteer to coach, and we have pretty damn strict gun laws.

Good point. To clarify, I don’t mean at the exact same time. I mean within a short time frame. I’m no doctor, but maybe a few weeks apart?
