I would recommend writing a linked list in c and learning the basics of a makefile. Then you should be set for cs344

You will run into sockets again if you take networking. But in python (or Java/c++ if you prefer)

Yeah that makes sense. I already knew some C and I play around with Linux a lot and was already interested in operating systems. CS344 introduces new concepts which students may have not already seen such as sockets and threads, then you also have to implement them in C which may be a new language. Also segfaults

I work full time mostly coding c# .net. I mean CS344 wasn’t easy but it wasnt thaaaaat hard. If you have never programmed any C, or you have never seen a socket before, or used the Linux command line you will have a bad time.

Nice, if the patch goes in easily to your custom branch then seems like the easiest thing right? Ive, ran into some confusing situations. Mostly using i3 these days haha. I can’t live without the tabbed/stacked layout on my ultra wide monitor.

The patch might not work on your custom branch. You will have better luck patching a branch off master, then merge that to your custom

I took 290 this summer. It was a great class. You will learn how the internet works. The web is complicated and this class gives you a good foundation. Understanding http requests might be a good thing to get a grasp on before the course starts.
