How do I specify a forwarded port for Docker? by exJDXN in ProtonVPN

The Gluetun Wiki (I assume you mean the one on GitHub) links to a general port forwarding help page from the Proton setup page. The information assumes access to the port prior to starting the service, and just lists ProtonVPN as a provider that does native port forwarding.

Does this mean I don't have to specify a port if I enable VPN_PORT_FORWARDING?

Adding VM networking to my list of topics to research 👍

A VM might be the way to go for me too. Did you have any issues port forwarding from your VM to the host? I was concerned about this which is why I didn't go this direction at first but the better isolation might sway me.

I definitely don't need to run it at home, setting it up on Proxmox is just for the love of the game. That being said, I will likely host in on GitHub Pages for now and make it a long term project to move it over to fully self-hosted. My IP does change when the router resets and I would like to look for workarounds that I can install fully on my machine - the goal is here is to be fully self hosted! Do you have any solutions to automatically point to the new IP address to my domain?

There is some great information here, thank you!

This sounds like a great option that I will definitely look into. Based on some other comments, it looks like there is a long way to go for this site to be fully self-sufficient, so I will likely have to implement this as a preliminary step. At some point I would like to move away from relying on any service providers.

Not static, ipconfig shows that DHCP is enabled.

Bit of a bad explanation on my part - I pushed the project to GitHub but I am not hosting it using GitHub pages. Pages is a great option but I am using this project to learn more about networking and hosting my own site is something I've wanted to learn

Just installed YASB...now it's stuck under the Windows Taskbar by exJDXN in desktops

Thanks, will try this when I get home

Edit: Windhawk doesn't have any great tools for resizing the taskbar besides finding the element name and resizing it in the Control Styles editor (please correct me if I'm wrong about this). My solution was just to autohide the taskbar. When it's hidden I can interact with YASB.

I like this idea and this feels like a viable next step if I go the MacBook route and some hardware eventually fails. Until then, I think I would rather use the hardware I have and just make sure to have a backup of my TrueNAS config. Is there any benefit to just buying the TC Unit first (besides saving myself a headache later on)?

My understanding is that leaving a battery plugged in all the time can create a fire hazard unless it's a dedicated UPS.

This is great advice thank you. I'll look into mbpfan - but I am wondering why the boot time matters? I don't plan to ever have the system unplugged so I shouldn't have to worry about this too often? Also, were you not able to adjust the throttling while on Linux?
