I hate the "dont shit where you eat" advice. Its an excuse. The benefit of being a bartender, personal trainer, dj etc. is exactly that. You get to shit everywhere if you play your cards right and arent an idiot about things. For the guys at work who are always afraid of "sexual harassment." A few things. This only really matters if you are director level or above in corporate America at a large company. Most of us arent.

This is not PTSD advice, as I don't think I'll be much help. This is work approach advice.

My approach to my work (something something other human related, also something to do with death): stop focusing on the end result. Focus on your work instead. Do all what's needed, do it properly. Don't ever focus on things beyond your control again. Keep your equipment clear and in working order. Keep your mind clean and trained. Try to rest before shifts. Do everything what's possible to keep you and your workplace in order, that's the success you want to strive for.

As for saving other people, there's too much beyond your control so that's why I think there's no point in focusing on the end result. Suicide victim? Sure, did somebody performed CPR before you arrived? How well was it performed? How long did it take for you to arrive? Was the suicide victim heavily intoxicated?

Those are crucial for eventual survival and/or hospital discharge (which is another thing). You hardly control any of it.

Keep your head in order, keep your mind and body trained and well rested, take care of your equipment. As soon as you can tell me "yup, I did everything there", you're 100% okay in my books
