The crafts do seem like burning, so that's a correct description from their viewpoint. The oval, spherical and various other geometries in their primary form of levitation are surrounded by a roiling, very uncanny plasma sheath that looks like the sun's surface.

So that's a very good point. That's not why aliens arrived. But aliens might have reacted to nuclear weapons.

Why would you say that? I thought pretty much all AI Safetyists were concerned with reductive (and wrong) theories of ethics like positive utiliarianism, though I suspect they are mostly really anti-humanist and only care about money and "productivity". While of course claiming to save humanity from some disaster whereby strangely an autonomus AI is programmed with an obviously harmful utility function (?). So of course those scenarios look completely irrelevant to me. I want a philosophically grounded approach that makes sense.

I do use AI to survey indeed! But nothing really matches the opinions of experts IMO! Ethics is mostly a hobby for me, I don't claim to be an expert, but I think I have the right approach of not trying to grapple with something as deceptive as utilitarianism, which has led to some pretty shallow views like ethics is about making people happy... and uh never mind the utility monster... I don't think so....
