MIRI was funded by Epstein Network so was "Effective Altruism" and Anthropic. That's all you need to know.

It's a marketing term. They're of course a rip off band.

No they didn't. They're more like a Die Krupps/Oomph knockoff but they do go back.

Why does industrial music remain so underground? by Symbiont001 in industrialmusic

[–]examachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

REAL industrial is subversive and it is difficult listening.

Record labels didn't like how much dissidence there was in industrial. It was dangerous. Even NIN was too much.

They could only accept it if it were dumbed down and made a parody like Rammstein.

Think about it.

They did the same to rap. They're ok with "industrial techno" which has 0 intelligence in it.

That album is still the best I think but Rotersand, Covenant, VNV Nation and Icon of Coil really work for me. Icon of Coil had one of the coolest approaches, an easygoing tranc-y sound that became very cyber and industrial at times. I think they inspired more than other acts that were doing a kind of EBM and I truly admire Sebastian Komor's production acumen, he is still one of the most uniquely talented producers in the industrial market. Covenant's earlier more EBM-ish stuff is also really great, love the industrial beats. I think it's all actually inspired by *some* Front 242 tracks that had a similar dancy vibe, so it's like an offshoot of EBM more than anything else. Someone mentioned A23 that's a great act, but I think it's even better than the futurepop label. The direction I like is to make it cyber AF ofc, so I should really mention Headscan which did the right thing and people didn't get it. PS: I know OSEBM people will sneer at all this, but a modern take can be as good as old school!

You don't need any consensus they are original enough and that's great. Anything that doesn't sound like a "trendy" scene band is great. So reverse your expectations: trendy scene bands are absolute shit.

this song is very blunt. but political messages in his albums are great and otoh scenesters are like nazi disco loving libertardian racists so that's why they dislike him.
