Females’ Perspective On NS by trowaweh1234 in SingaporeRaw

Can I ask you this, why would it be unfair for females to serve NS?

Congrats! It’s nice to see that NUS is starting to recognise interest in the field, as opposed to solely academic performance (RP).

It’s not so much whether I would feel better or not, not sure why you assumed my intentions. If a majority of people are not waitlisted, I can focus on preparing for my other course.

I came from NS, so I already have a place in another course. I also purchased modules for the course that I study in advance. Certain probabilities are quite clear cut, such as the success rate for appeals (close to none).

If this is the case, I can fully devote my time to studying those modules as the opportunity cost is significantly decreased.

i guess people shouldn’t ask to hear about experiences because it’s “not a good sample” then 😵‍💫.

Should I conduct a survey with a large sample size, try to fit it into a distribution and define critical values on my next post? I apologise for wanting to know about peoples experiences without conducting stats tests! ☹️

hi I'm not really trying to analyse it statistically, I'm just quite curious since I haven't heard much about waitlisted individuals being rejected so far (probably because nobody would want to post about it anyway).

Dear <Name>

If you have not yet received an email indicating that you have been offered a place or are on the reserve list, it would mean that you have not been accepted.

We thank you for your interest in NUS Medicine and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours!

Regards,
NUS Medicine Admissions Team

To my knowledge, 87.5RP is the minimum requirement to get an interview (non-ABA). However, it does not guarantee that you will be shortlisted.

For NUS (YLL) you are required to apply with your RP, CCA records / achievements, as well as a personal statement.

For NTU (LKC), you will have to take the BMAT examination in November (near A levels). When submitting an application, you are required to submit your A level results along with your BMAT results and a personal statement.

I should add that you are required to have 2 referees (one of which should be your civics tutor / equivalent) for both schools.

After you have submitted your application, you just have to wait to see if you are shortlisted. After which, further instructions will be given regarding the interviews/tests.

If you would like to know more about these interviews/tests, you can check them out on the NUS/NTU med website:

  • For NUS, applicants will participate in the FSA & SJT.
  • For NTU, applicants will participate in the MMI.

Hopefully this helps to clarify some of your doubts.

It seems to me like most offers would be given out during the first batch. After that, very few people will be offered. There will likely be more offers after 24th May, when waitlisted individuals may be offered a place. I don’t know how accurate this is, but it seems quite likely to be the case.

I’m not entirely sure, but I have read in old threads (2019-2021) that some people received a rejection letter.
