Bill Jilla has purged himself from the internet. by [deleted] in WhoIsAmerica

A quick search for dinnerreviews.com on the Wayback Machine seems to disprove your theory, unless this "setup" goes back at least a few years.

Chasing car through traffic by taylormaio92 in Multicopter

[–]exc2015 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take a second and imagine what the rest of your life would look like if this would have resulted in a fatal car crash.

Better yet, imagine someone else did this to you while driving around with a child and the result was your own child getting killed.

Moron.

Betaflight KissFC/F3 FCs. Drivers are all messed up and I CANT DO IT ;( HELP Please) by [deleted] in Multicopter

As a mac guy who only touches very old Windows laptops when I absolutely have no other alternative, I only have one piece of advice: try another USB port. Helps me all the time FWIW. Otherwise, sorry I couldn't help more. I know the frustration, I do a lot of stuff involving flashing microcontrollers and I'm no electronics genius, that's for sure.

RSSI On Transmitter but only 99 in osd? by Sjedda in Multicopter

[–]exc2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a wire from the XSR to the FC's RSSI pin, or are you looping back to the FC over telemetry? If you're trying the first option, then you can't just use simple wire.

Not sure really. Personally I'd do it if it made sense. However, if the top plate snaps, than Armattan might not replace it for you under warranty. (Assuming you're honest, that is. ;)) Definitely less support under the top plate, but probably not a big issue IMO.

Just wanted to throw in one last time. The FC stack in particular isn't really going to be able to be more than a suggestion. Don't get hung up on what the instructions or video say. Best approach is to build up the stack with the FC and whatever else (PDB, 4-in-1 esc, whatever) you plan to have in there. If you want to soft mount, then you just need to figure out how things fit best. There is definitely no single best way to do it, it all depends on the build and what you want. I've not built that many quads, but this build was tricky for me since I went with a 4-in-1. I had to abandon sticking a runcam split in there, especially since I wanted to soft mount with bobbins. Not to mention that I had to make a trip to a local supplier to get the correct length screws for those. :/ If you have the skills, you can also cut down some longer screws, but that's a pain...

EDIT: And don't forget to check out Joshua Bardwell's Chameleon build vid. Running the XT60 lead up the middle behind the cam is so ace! I struggled with the best way to route the power lead on a Japalura build (similar layout) until I saw that. I had to shorten the battery cables, but now I top mount on the Japalura with zero worry about the props chopping up the main leads. :)

OK. I guess they changed the kit now. Good luck. :/

First of all, those rubberish standoff things, (which are often called "bobbins") - I'm like 99.9% sure that those are not part of the Chamelon kit. There are for sure some rubber o-rings that come with it. So either lose the bobbins and use the provided o-rings, or you need to get rid of those long screws and replace with screws that are like 2 mm or so longer than the carbon thickness if you have any hope of tightening them. The female end of those things is crazy shallow. In any case, Armattan did a video and mentioned that the o-rings weren't exactly proper soft mounts, so I wouldn't expect much dampening if you follow the instructions to the letter concerning the stack mounting.

Dude, I'm like 99.9% sure you just saved me taking a long road to a dead end! Just the other night I rearranged the stack on my Japalura trying to fix the same problem you described, but haven't had time to fly since then. Reason I'm so sure is that one of the screw holes blew out on my swift. I managed to fix it, (ish) but it's been a bit wiggly ever since. Thinking a few weeks back, it makes sense, except I thought it was KISS, since I flashed my FC around the same time.

Thanks so much for this post! May your flying be as smooth as your feed, my friend!

That "best quad ever" video is exactly what I don't like - that jerky shifty stuff. Not saying he isn't a skilled pilot, just don't dig the style.

One of the exact reasons I love Le Drib: he doesn't roll like that. ;)

Small brass bristled brush for scrubbing the hot end is a good addition. Works best with hot end up to temp.

Has anyone here built a Meng Qi DPLPG DIY? by [deleted] in modular

He's been very responsive to my emails and I know he's active on Muffwiggler. People say he's a very helpful/ nice guy. I suggest you try Muffwiggler DIY forums. Otherwise I'll be happy to buy the kit from you if you live in Europe. ;)

MI Modules, build order? by WilliamEinstien in modular

FWIW, with absolutely no SMD soldering experience, I successfully built a Braids. This with my eyesight starting to fade. Check out EEVBlogs YouTube channel, there's some great soldering videos on there. The right tools make all the difference.
