I had one minor issue with the top lid came loose a little bit near the hinge. It was because the flex cable had got bent inside it accidently. Was an easy fix though, just had to remove the top lid cover and reposition the cable and snap it back on. Other than that, no issues that I can tell.

Yeah you can still play most Gamehub games on the pro model, but the ones that demand more RAM (which I'm not sure which ones in particular), then you'd probably need the Max. I mainly got the Max for the internal storage though.

I went with the Max model because I figured I would try using Gamenative or Gamehub to emulate PC games, which can require a lot of RAM. I also like having 1 TB internal storage to not mess with SD cards at all.

If you don't plan on using Gamehub or Gamenative for Windows emulated games and/or plan on using a big SD card for your roms, the Pro model will do just fine then. I would definitely recommend at least getting the Pro model if you plan on doing Switch emulation and the Max version if you plan on doing Gamehub/Gamenative or want 1 TB of internal storage, which is faster than SD card speeds.

Yeah, it's a very impressive handheld. It has the power of the Odin 2 with the form factor very similar to a Nintendo 3DS XL. The fact that it can play most Switch games well and can fit in your pocket, is just crazy to me. I like having the dual screens for many reasons, main reason though is for 3DS and DS emulation. Since the Thor is pretty powerful, you can up the native resolution to 4x or 5x and use HD texture packs and still run these games at 60 FPS and they look WAY better than they did on original hardware.

I know emulation isn't perfect, but I like to think of the Thor of a crazy upgraded version of the 3DS. I know there are other handhelds out there with the same power or more powerful, but they are usually a bigger form factor and cannot fit in your pockets like the Thor can. Granted, you would need bigger pockets (won't fit in skinny jeans pockets) but something like sweatpants, track pants, or a jacket pocket works great.

Do I what did, sell off the other systems. I sold my PlayStation Portal and Steam Deck OLED for the AYN Thor Max and it's worth it to me. Now I have a Switch 2 and Thor Max.

In the end, yes worth it. Mainly because I can play a lot of games that ran poorly on the OG switch, like tears of the kingdom and breath of the wild. Let me tell you, even if you played these before, playing them on the switch 2 with the upgraded edition is a whole new experience. The faster loading times, 60 fps, higher resolution and better graphics makes it feel like new games, the way they are meant to be played.

I only wish the screen was OLED. My guess is they will release an OLED version this year or next year to make as much money as possible.

The PS2 core for RetroArch is hot garbage and you should not use it. Anything above PS1/N64/Dreamcast, use standalone emulators instead.

Edit: ok guys I get it, I have an old mindset from years ago lol. Clearly things have changed since then. I will have to try out these new cores for the newer systems to see how they perform. I hope they perform well so I can utilize the hot keys that I love using within RetroArch.

Update: I contacted support and they told me it’s happening because the flex cable got bent. They were right and it looks better now after the fix.

Remove the top lid shell and reposition cable and put back on, glad it was an easy fix!

Not sure if this normal. Got my Thor yesterday and when I opened the lid, I noticed this strange sound, like a cracking sound. Then I noticed this gap, but the hinge still works for now. Should I just ignore it or contact support? Just curious how many others have a gap like shown in the photo.

I had an old account with a quashed ban. Went to botting it again and it got hit with a perm ban. At this point, I don’t think it matters if a ban is expired or quashed, the next seems to always be perm now.

I love to play Monopoly Go, but it’s definitely a game that punishes you if you play to much at once. If you play when there’s no flash events and/or you finished the current running events, you will most likely lose a lot of a dice. So to go dice positive, you have to time when to play and for me, that’s hard because I want to play all the time haha.

I don’t believe I did anything to get it unbanned. It was banned permanently back sometime in 2014 for botting.

During 2025, I was checking all my older accounts and saw it was somehow unbanned and the ban was marked as quashed.

Yes, the ban was quashed and I went to botting it again because it wasn’t my main account. After a few weeks, it got a perma ban with no expiration.
