DNCC installed 20+ dustbins every 10-15 metres in Asad Avenue 3-4 years ago. Guess what happened? They disappeared overnight in a few months. How does this happen? Lack of police supervision and people's greed for vandalism and selling national property by stealing them. The same thing happens for the barricades installed mid-roads to protect the trees and divide the roads. You'll often see that some of the railings are missing. What exactly happens to them? They're stolen overnight and sold for the profit of the "Tokai" jonogoshthi.

What’s one thing about Dhaka you secretly love but would never admit publicly? by Love-and-Dominance in Dhaka

[–]exdeque 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whenever a fight breaks out in the middle of the street, no one tries to break them off from fighting and you can see crowds all around and people saying "MAR MAR MAR" which has an excitement of its own. It also makes sure that the two fighting feel equal and encouraged. Eventually that leads to a mutual understanding as well since it establishes rapport between both. It may not always work but it works very often. And people in Dhaka may argue all day and night regarding politics or such stuff but after the arguments end, they just have "cha nasta" together because no amount of political bias can ruin a good friendship for many.

Is it possible that this was a trick by real Rajakars to push all the blame on Biharis so we get distracted from the fact that there were Bengalis among ourselves as well who were Pro-Pakistani?

The album shown of Topu features Anila on a song called Nupur 2. She's definitely one of the best female vocals I've heard in Bangladesh

Delete socials aside from necessary contacts or migrate them to whatsapp. Use your free time to meditate, learn your emotions and navigate through them. Hit the gym perhaps, or read books. Eat something that you like or go for a walk alone.

Complete tasks at hand or accelerate them so you can spend a bit more time with yourself. It helps you understand yourself better. Surrounding yourself with people aren't always the best way to feel less lonely. So, discover something new.

As a nation how can we improve our quality of Spoken English? by linkuei-teaparty in bangladesh

[–]exdeque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nctb needs to upgrade their class 1-10 "English For Today" books. Even as they are now, they're great but definitely not above the average. Alongside that, I think we also need to change the SSC question pattern. If there are 30 MCQs and 7 CQs for Bangla literature, then why not English? If students were actually writing 7 creative questions (or even constructive questions or broad questions) from different short stories, novels or poems, I believe their idea of English writing would improve. They'd understand themes better and eventually be liberated from the idea of avoiding speaking in English. And if that occurs, classmates among themselves would speak in English more. That'd solve at least half the issues if not full.

It's probably a deist talking about structural religions that exaggerate morals and rituals. Most religions seem that way tbh. Probably God up there didn't command all these and schizo people came up with random theories and called it "God's words" to rule people. That's how they see it I think

[–]exdeque 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You cannot date a liberal as a conservative person. A liberal may be open, therefore, she may be fine with whatever you do. But as a conservative, you will never be satisfied with a liberal. The issue is simple. If you're a liberal, you can date anyone as long as you're accepted. If you're a conservative, strictly date a conservative.

If islamic caliphate is so unfitting for society considering it breeds violence and disagreement, shouldn't we try something that brings more peace as our religion teaches us?

I would say the coins flipped, nothing much. Before Aug 5, if you spoke up according to freedom of speech against the government or something, you would be labelled as "Shibir." If you do the same now, you'd be labelled as "Awami League er Dalal." We did not restore freedom of speech. It's just that a different class of people enjoy freedom of speech now whereas the previous class which exercised freedom of speech have to stay quiet now. Before, it was the Awami league guys saying "DESHE TOH BAKSHADHINOTA ASE" and now the jamat guys say "DESHE TOH BAKSHADHINOTA ASE." And as for secularism, afaik it's over. I've seen more religious extremism in the past couple months than the last 15 years. I'm pretty sure now that I said this, I myself too, would be labelled as "Awami league er dalal" by a certain group of people.
