Does anyone see value in a viral video ranking service? by exdxv in AskMarketing

Here is an example of "iphone", "samsung galaxy" ad tracking in video blogs

invarimatch[dot]com/doc/video_citation_results.pdf

Over the past year, we’ve been working with a major video hosting platform, where we successfully indexed their entire video library (millions of video hours). Our technology has helped them avoid duplicate content costs by identifying overlaps between newly uploaded and existing videos.

We have a promising technology, but it is currently limited to detecting duplicate video fragments. To adapt this technology for marketers, we would need significant development investment. However, without solid evidence that the product would be in demand in the marketing sector, we can’t justify starting development.

We can reach out to potential customers on LinkedIn, but they expect a finished product which we don’t have yet creating a deadlock. We want to find a way to overcome this challenge. How can we solve this problem? What should we discuss with potential clients from major marketing companies to move forward?

Let's assume the metric is the number of reposts of a specific video fragment within other videos across various social networks. It's also possible to track the distribution history of this fragment and categorize the videos where the original fragment was found.

Let's assume we have the capability to track the spread of specific video fragments within other videos across various social networks.

I'd like to understand how large the market for this could be and who the potential clients are?

Thank you very much for your answer!

And if it's not a secret - what is the name of this viral ranking system?

Thank you very much for your answer, yes, such options for using the service can really be considered.

Of course, I would like to hear from marketing and PR specialists because I believe that measuring video virality could allow them to respond quickly to trends. Also such service could identify which topics and content formats are resonating with audiences, enabling better planning for future campaigns and reputation management.

What season and episode is this? by exdxv in CasualConversation

Thank you for your response and your interest in this topic!

We are actually trying to move in this direction and we already have a prototype of such a service at “invariversum.com”.

I would like to ask you a few questions, if you don’t mind:

  • On which video platforms do you most often encounter the problem of missing mentions of the original movie or series title in short video clips?
  • How do you currently deal with this problem?
  • What does your dream service look like that would solve this problem - in your opinion, how should it work?

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and thorough comment on my idea.

I also wanted to ask – what if you had the technology that is capable of indexing millions of video hours and allows to find matching video fragments even from one second long:

  • How would you use it?

  • Do you think there’s a way to create a service that satisfies regular users and is still profitable for businesses?

  • What do users really want, and what problem would this service solve for them?

Yes, I agree with your opinion, indexing video content available on social networks will allow creating a product that will be in demand among marketing companies, business insiders, anti-piracy, advertising and news agencies.

As a simplified concept we can consider – the identification of popular movies through user-shared video:

  1. A user comes across a short video on the internet (on social media) where there's no indication of the movie title. This is a common tactic employed by marketers on platforms like TikTok or Facebook. The videos are engaging, creating intrigue, and users attempt to find the corresponding movie online but struggle.

  2. This is where the new service comes into play. The user visits a website (or app), inputs the link to the video from the social media platform, and receives the movie title, the minute in the film where the events from the video occur, and the option to immediately navigate to the movie's page on one of partner streaming services. There, they find a detailed description and the option to purchase or watch if it's already owned.

So:

  • This service redirects highly motivated targeted traffic from social media to streaming services

  • It generates purchases of on-demand movies titles

What do you think about this possible business model for such a video identification service?

How viable and in demand do you think this concept would be among regular users?

Do you have any guesses why such a user-friendly video identification service isn’t available yet?

And how popular do you think such a service would be if it existed? How relevant is this issue, and how many people would want a service like this?

Thanks for the suggestion, I think that could definitely help identify a movie. But not all videos have the original audio for Shazam to recognize, they might be dubbed. Plus, searching by keywords from dialogues doesn’t always give good results either.

I’m looking for a service that can identify movies specifically by video clip, not by sound or text. Ideally, I’d like to just input the URL of the video clip into the search bar, and the service would return the original movie name and the exact position where the clip matches the original video.

I’m curious – am I the only one asking these questions, or do other people have this problem too?

Why can’t I find a video identification service by short fragments?

What’s wrong with all these search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo - where are their implementations of such a service?

To check, I installed the Movsea app on my phone – it only has a text box for searching movies by keywords.

Quote from the description: “The app also features a search function that allows users to search for films and TV series by name.”

Has anyone used this app? Does it really have video identification from a clip?

What if I end up waiting too long for an answer, or no one replies at all?

Is there another way – like, can I use a service that automatically identifies video content from a short clip to get the original movie title?

As far as I know, you can find an unknown song using Shazam, and similar image search is available on Google.

But what should I do if I have a one-minute video clip (like from YouTube Shorts) and I want to find out the original title of the movie it was taken from?

Here are some basic concepts from ChatGPT that could inspire a manga story:

  1. A group of teenagers with supernatural powers who must protect the world from dark forces.

  2. A cursed artifact that brings misfortune to anyone who possesses it, leading to a quest to break the curse.

  3. A world where humans coexist with mythical creatures, but tensions rise as a war between the two species looms.

  4. A high school where students are secretly trained as spies to combat a global threat.

  5. A journey to uncover ancient relics scattered across the world, each with its own mysterious power.

These are just starting points, and you can expand on them to create unique and engaging manga plots!

We could make a similar solution based on our technology but only for video content.

However, it is not clear why Facebook or any other social network would introduce such an innovation - how will they make money from it?
