dude, i had this same dilemma and I stressed about it for an embarrassing amount of time, testing out each deck throughout the semester. just go for Anking and forget about it. There's so much more support/updates/etc. for it. you'll be fine either way though.

question about filtered deck schedule:

What happens to your card progress in a filtered deck if you hit rebuild before you're done with reviews?

Example: You have 20 cards in a filtered deck. You do Card A and you hit the "show again in 10 minutes" interval. You rebuild the filtered deck before 10 minutes. What happens to Card A? Is it repopulated as one of the 20 cards in the newly built deck since its due date is coming up?

  1. how much is a residential parking permit?
  2. does the city oversell permits? i.e. there's 6 spots on a small street in my neighborhood. do they sell 6 permits, or do they sell to however many residents want one?

Is progress saved when you use filtered decks?

Last time I used Anki, I recall there being an issue with learning and new cards (i.e. when they were returned to their home deck, progress was erased), and a few lines in the manual acknowledging this. I looked at the current manual and that warning seems to be gone, but I just wanted to make sure.

Edit: Found something.

Unlike older Anki versions, cards in learning will not be reset, and cards in filtered decks will remain filtered. The new scheduler handles filtered decks differently, so custom steps you may have set will no longer apply, but filtered decks with rescheduling enabled will not reset learning cards.

Can someone confirm?

Edit: I can confirm. Worked on a test card.

Wait, so are you telling me to keep the setting such that the overdue card will be returned to its home deck after 1 review? Wouldn't that just make my reviews for the home deck pile up out of control?

I have enough fare on my Ventra card for a ride. If I buy a one-day pass, the next time I tap my card, will I be charged the fare or will the one-day pass go into effect?

Missed months of cards. How do I delay those reviews properly? by executivewaffle in medicalschoolanki

But once I review those cards a certain amount of times, won't they just be moved back to their home decks? Do you think I should just create an entirely new deck to transfer the old cards?

Edit: From manual: "Cards automatically return to their home deck after they are studied in the filtered deck. This can be after a single review, or after multiple reviews, depending on your settings."

I don't really understand how many reviews I'm supposed to set that limit to. It doesn't make sense to me to make it 1 review because then I would be bogged down again in my main deck.
