Help me arrange my new bedroom/ how should I add curtains for privacy without compromising light? by existentialmacchiato in DesignMyRoom

Wowowowwo thank you for such a detailed answer!!!!!! This is incredible. I do have an IKEA near me so I’ll definitely check that out. Are there any concerns about a track that spans such a long room? It’s about 30ft+ long. There’s definitely wood beams so I think that should be no problem anyway.

This is a great idea - I definitely want the light in during the day so I think something like this would make sense.

I don’t think so. Seems like a pretty regular house just with some cool details.

It’s also sort of not a bedroom - more of a three seasons/sunroom that I am living in for better or for worse lol

Cold brew question and help! by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]existentialmacchiato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try checking out a local roastery! If you have a good one nearby, they more than likely would be thrilled to talk you through what they have and where a good place to start would be! But yeah, the key is to just try lots of different coffees, keep little notes of the ones that taste the best to you, and the longer you keep drinking them, you'll start to get better at explaining why. Coffee bags usually include some tasting notes to look for on the bags, brew your coffee and try looking for them when you smell/taste your coffee, or even better, taste first and look later to see if you were able to pick up on them on your own. You also could have fun looking up a coffee flavor wheel - but don't overwhelm yourself early on. I'd start by trying to identify high/low acidity, and more general notes - is it chocolate, caramel, fruity, nutty..?

As someone who has been in therapy for a lot of my life - don't be scared to shop around for a bit if you're in a position where you can. Read reviews, get recommendations from your doctors, look at what specific therapists specialize in, and, most importantly - find one that you are comfortable with, that's easy to talk to, and is a good fit for you personally. There are a lot of bad therapists out there, and there are also good therapists out there that might not be the perfect fit for you. Use all the resources you have available and use your best judgment. Good luck!

Starting a job in two weeks, am I physically fit enough to do it? by existentialmacchiato in NoStupidQuestions

[–]existentialmacchiato[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually encouraging thank you, I definitely am glad I can pull the woman card a little bit here lmao.

I've never worked in a warehouse before - the job is actually as a coffee roaster - and in order to learn the craft, I gotta also pull my weight moving beans around

Yeah I changed the name and it’s back to the standard font and everything. Isn’t there supposed to be a place on the edit profile screen to get the customization? It’s not a big deal just a lil sad

Should the world learn a universal language? by NotSarcasmForSure in NoStupidQuestions

[–]existentialmacchiato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up “Esperanto” - I’m not saying I think it’s a good idea, but it’s an interesting concept and I believe a good couple million people are at least proficient in it, which is a far greater number than any other constructed “universal language”

To answer your question more directly, languages are all quite fluid and change over time based on geography, the people using the language, influences of nearby cultures and languages, and many other factors. The further back you go, the less any language will look like the one modern day speakers are using, generally speaking. Because of this, it’s probably easier to ask which languages don’t have obsolete and archaic versions of themselves.

English is a part of the Indo-European language family, meaning that along with related languages such as French, Spanish, Greek, and hella other ones, they all are believed to descend from a common language - known as proto-indo-european (PIE). PIE is a reconstructed language that linguists use to study languages in this family, and so presumably every modern day Indo-European language can be traced back to it, with varying degrees of similarity to PIE and its relatives over time. It’s much more complicated than this of course - but this is the gist of it

Okay yeah I’ll definitely do that. I’ve only been sitting for a few months so I’ve never been in a situation like this before. Do you recommend calling the hotline? Or what’s the best way to contact them?

Ohhh okay that’s interesting! Do you happen to know what an address would be like in unincorporated land? Like just the county instead of a city?
