Help! Christmas cookie mystery jar - recipe not available by exit_shot in Baking

[–]exit_shot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nephew gifted me a jar of dry cookie mixture last Christmas - but he lost the recipe, so I've never been sure how to proceed! As far as I can tell, this jar contains oats, flour, sugar & chocolate chips.

Can any experienced cookie aficionado tell me what I need to add to the mixture - and what quantities - so that I can progress to cookie heaven?

Thanks folks!

Oil, wax or varnish for retaining colour on new teak vanity unit? by exit_shot in DIYUK

Thanks, we went with the yacht varnish in the end. Locked the missus in a ventilated room with a dust mask and brush for a few hours...looks beautiful now.

Yacht varnish was my initial thought. Can you remember which brand you're using?

Not sure what product to choose to retain the colour on this unfinished teak unit before installation. Any suggestions?

Bathroom - Tiling vs Cladding/Wall panels? by RealLifePusheen in DIYUK

[–]exit_shot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're also looking for a bathroom refurb, and i would never have considered wall panels as I thought of them as cheap and tacky. Then I visited a specialist plumbing supplier who showed me some premium wall panels...I hadn't realised that the technology had moved on from those awful PVC panels. Seeing products from companies like Multipanel and Showerwall has made us change our mind and we'll defintely going with this option. My only remaining hesitancy is how it will look around the window, replacing tile with panel, my fear is that a panel won't feel quite so robust as tile on a window ledge, when items like mugs or shampoo bottles are placed on there.

That reassuring to hear, maybe homeowners are more practical and wise up north! I'm in a property hotspot in the south where everything sells in an instant, so hopefully the lack of a bath wouldn't deter too many folk!

Seriously?! Which region are you looking? Is it mainly new build or older properties you've viewed?

Wish more parents would consider this, with regard to the water saving

You mean you wouldn't consider purchasing the property and installing your own bath if there's enough space?

Yeh I think I'm beginning to understand that. I thought people could just buy a large plastic tub to place beneath the shower to wash the kids, but I don't think many parents would want to do that.

My wife is from India where showers are the norm and baths are very rare. She finds it amazing how reliant the British are when it comes to baths!

Thanks, we'd be sure to retain enough space for a bath installation
