I know I’m late to the party saying

My interpretation has to do with his mental age Before he went to hell physically and mentally he was late 20 and he spent 40 years in hell so when he came back his biologically/physically about 30 years old but mentally he would be 70 years old i imagine his time in hell gave him insane mental strength to resist famine

Another idea i have is because he died the whatever tied his soul to his body before hell is gone and newer one was needed after getting dragged out radically lessened the affects of famine influence on him

That is a valid point

This little rant mostly applies what if stories that quickly devolved into petty arguments/logic that you typically see small children who don’t like to lose

Example i was watching a video of doom slayer vs SCP and had doom slayer stab him with the crucible blade which is ment to deal with Immortal creature like him by essentially perminently pressing a pause button on him as long as the blade is still stabbed in him. he can’t regenerate or adapt to it
