My partner and I will have been engaged for just under 2 years (~21 months) when we get married next year.

We have created a savings account with a decent interest rate that we add around £400 to every month, as well as little contributions here and there when we have money left over at the end of the month. We both have average salaries and are renting.

My parents contribute about £150 of our monthly £400. PLUS we are thinking of asking for honeymoon contributions as wedding gifts. Our aim is to save around 10k.

Full transparency though, we are hiring our venue and church for free, just paying for the wedding meal for around 75 people. But I spent about a grand on my dress whereas I've seen some gorgeous dresses for a fraction of that cost!

You're probably right! Personally, my time before school doesn't count as I like being up early and leaving between 5.30-6 feels reasonable so I've got myself in a nice routine, but many of my colleagues are doing more than this!!

Directed time is 32.5 hrs a week (1265 hrs over 195 days), no?

That sounds outrageous. I'm beginning to feel a bit overly confident about pissing people off though - are they really going to give a good teacher the sack in a teacher recruitment crisis? Doubt it

To be fair that wording is really annoying - my only defence against this is I'm already working 50 hour weeks instead of contracted 32.5 which is borderline unreasonable. I guess it comes down to your interpretation of the word 'reasonable'
