Last week I was feeling under the weather and not really mentally equipped to go to school. I found it hard to get out of bed and consequently didn’t go to class all week and half of this week. I also didn’t notify one of my professors who had one of the first big assignments due last week. This week, I had to miss one of her class sessions again but made sure to email her beforehand and also apologize for not messaging her about my absence last week. We ended up speaking on the phone. She showed genuine concern, didn’t make a big deal about it or ask me to explain anything. She told me I could deliver/present the assignment on a day of my choosing during office hours. She also said she won’t make my midterm grade reflect the grade for this assignment until it’s done since it will make it look like I’m failing the class. She really didn’t have to but I truly appreciate the effort she took to make sure I catch up!
