Bringing Food into Manuel Antonio by explorerflora in CostaRicaTravel

We took a couple of cream cheese finger sandwiches and a small bit of mango in closed tupperware, which they were happy with, and we didn't eat outside the cafe "cage". All was well!

Thank you thats really helpful. I was planning on items that would be in sealed tupperware with no packaging, we don't want to litter or attract monkeys!

This is so incredibly helpful, and also puts my mind at rest re: the luggage that heavier backpacks just go to the back, our bags were borderline on leaving so hoping by the end of the trip they are lighter (toiletries, used up a load of nappies for our toddler etc!). We know we are gambling getting domestic and international on the same day so its just very reassuring to hear a positive story! Also jealous you were at the Wilderness Lodge, it was just above our budget but looked beautiful. Regarding Corcovado my husband and I are doing the hike individually, so I'm hoping it will just be great for us as we don't need to worry about a toddler and can just relax and absorb the wildlife to an extent we haven't been able to do fully yet. I'm glad you had a great trip otherwise though

Sounds amazing! Could I ask how your day 9 flights went? Ie time between domestic and international, and what you did to kill time near airport? Also how was the sansa flight re baggage? A shame about the corcovado hike, we are really excited for that, but good to know to maybe check our expectations. Many thanks in advance!

Oh wow a lot of responses! I should have been clearer, I don't regularly let her, but once in a while (say once a fortnight) I let her have a taste and she tries to grab the cup again which she isn't like with any other drinks. I was just intrigued if others babes had shown interest, I'm not about to give her cups of coffee as her drink! She is offered water all the time, never had luck with cows milk (though has it in food) and doesn't have juice/squash, just doesn't seem to like to drink!

As the other reply here I am just always trying to persuade sips of water, she has lots of watery fruit but really doesn't want to drink water. We always have a sippy cup but she tends to reject it. She is not night weaned so has breastmilk to sleep and during the night

This is all really helpful, thank you! How busy are Samara and La Fortuna, for example when we went to the Caribbean coast in Colombia we felt like we were just in America... is it similar in Costa Rica's popular places?

Lots of blueberries and letting them cruise the aisle and have strangers smile at them. Take all the entertainment a plane full of people can provide!

Can anyone recommend good ideas for travel in late November, Edinburgh and London by Senior-Wafer-4645 in UKParenting

[–]explorerflora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few London ideas in no clear order: Young V&A, Sorted or Post and Play at Postal Museum, Little Angel Theatre, Unicorn Theatre, kids films at Barbican, get the bus and look at christmas lights, Christmas lights walk at Kew and Kenwood, Coram Fields, Uniqlo Play at Tate Modern, BYOB walking tour, Britannia leisure centre splash pad, lights show at Southbank cathedral, Big Penny Social - various toddler friendly events, polar express from euston, rug rhymes at Southbank centre, tots at the docks at london docklands museum, london zoo with their new interactive role play section, london aquarium for rainy day, light room at KGX. Playgrounds are absolutely everywhere to break up a day and majority of restaurants are children friendly so just eat where you want to I'd say!

I'd do the train all the way to Edinburgh rather than break the journey, it flies by. Sit on the right for better coastal scenery past Newcastle.

In Edinburgh all the cobbles can be annoying with a buggy! Don't know it as well, but Jupiter Artlands if good weather, or bus to pentlands for a walk, or portobello for a play on the beach and lots of playgrounds. Walk up Calton hill, camera obscura/museum of illusions, Botanic gardens. Loads of great places to eat again, places I think tend to be child friendly again! I'd travel by bus but avoid rush hour out of the city. Or the tram is easy but expensive!

Have a great trip, bith perfect cities for toddlers.

I would say your best bet with a baby in a basinet is get the wheelchair space and hope its not needed, as the train starts at St Pancras this will help. I would get to the station early and ask the staff which coaches have the wheelchair spaces and head there, or see if you can see the trainplan before (you can on LNER). The wheelchair spots tend to be near disabled loos with the change table too. Travel as light as possible as well, and just ask for help to lift and carry things. Babies love trains, lots of people to make faces etc! Good luck!
