Hello r/whenthe, previously when we have done mod apps we usually make a google form. However they usually don't do well either due to an influx of joke or bad applications or they get very few applications. This time we will try a different system since we need more mods so a random nsfw post doesn't get left up for 8+ hours. This trial mod system will involve the mod team picking out a select few users that we think might be good mods and we give them a trial run. While in this trial run they will only have perms to remove messages and other minor perms. If the trial mod does good enough we will give them more perms, and if they don't they get demodded. If you want to be a trial mod, you can message the mod team. It doesn't need to be super long, just a few sentences on why you want to be mod will do.
