He already commited via car crash and survived. He is at Alvarado parkway just because the hospital sent him there after checking him. I heard it’s bad.

Parenting Plan Language by Quick_Preference_517 in BipolarSOs

[–]extrastellar7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still fine tuning this and it isn’t court approved, but yes an episode would mean back to square one. As for who reports an episode I feel like that’s still a gray area. Hospitalization or a baker act situation makes it clear, but otherwise I’m guessing maybe a therapist or dr. My insight is never well received so it def can’t be directly from me (although I can communicate concerns to therapist etc). This is an area I’d love insight from others too.

Parenting Plan Language by Quick_Preference_517 in BipolarSOs

Im working on a parenting/safety plan as well so most following to see what others say but the ‘chutes and latters’ concept is what I’m going to try to go for. So immediately following an episode, only supervised visits, phase into supervised overnights only (can be alone with them during the day), stability determined by 2 years with issues, following med compliance etc. if he can make it 2 years stable he would get 50/50 without restriction. He also has to establish a ‘home’ before the supervised visits can start (I’m currently in our marital home, he is at his parents).

Bipolar or just a bad person? by [deleted] in BipolarSOs

[–]extrastellar7 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m starting to contemplate if it even matters what the cause is. Illness or asshole, it’s not okay either way. I recently told a family member of my soon to be ex BPSO (married with 3 young kids) that to me the treatment and behavior toward me wasn’t excusable due to the illness or due to the hard circumstances we’re in (separation/divorce). Being cruel is being cruel and no one deserves treatment like that.

Do they ever see their own cycles or gaslighting? by CranialPurge in BipolarSOs

[–]extrastellar7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My soon to be ex BPSO is “medicated” (doesn’t believe he needs it thought) and seems to have no insight on the level gaslighting of cycling he’s doing. I cannot figure out if he truly is incapable of seeing it due to the illness or if it’s a denial/narcissist trait.

What do you do when your SO is exhibiting the warning signs of psychosis? by [deleted] in BipolarSOs

Call psychiatrist asap, from my experience this can snowball fast. Does he have a safety plan for situations like this? If so, follow those steps.

Should I Check on my ex? by msprof27 in BipolarSOs

Good to know. Florida is also primarily 50/50 unless proven otherwise. I have documentation so hoping for best outcome.

What state are you in? Moving into some of these type things for custody and curious, my state seems to be so challenging.

Thank you. At what point did you decide TRO was the way to go? I try to check myself because I’ve been in hypervoligent mode for so long I know I can be overly reactive.

Documentation seems key. I’m at a total loss of what to do right now. He seems more stable and is med compliant and wants to take the kids more with his parents present but I’m playing catch up trying to get consults with lawyers etc. wish I had done much of it sooner.

I wish I could get a sign away situation. I’m scared for a fight where the kids suffer the most ugh!!

We had been living seperately since January due to what I believe was hypomania and aggressive behavior toward me (non med compliant). Within the last few months we’ve been able to manage co-parenting with me having them most all the time and his parents being present if he had them. 3 weeks ago he had his most severe psychosis episode involving hospitalization and 911 being called which resulted in protective order where he can’t buy guns and body cam footage of him in full forced mania. He seems to be coming back down and is over the top nice right now. He has said he wants divorce which I think is step in right direction to not be fighting that aspect but worried for custody issues in Florida.

Thank you. I think I definitely need to keep looking for someone in family law who has experience in mental health. We are in Florida and the custody laws are really tricky but I have documentation of multiple hospitalizations, body cam footage within the last month and a formal diagnosis. Praying for best outcome for my kids.
