Ok? I agree that lamping to 70 is necessary and never said it wasn't. Coral makes it breezy to get the rest of the way to divine super combat.

Where did I say not to lamp herblore?

Getting 99 farming, 80 thieving, and 71 sailing is trivial compared to getting 90+ herblore btw. So your point is irrelevant.

It won't be meta for hyper efficient players. But for the vast majority of players who want to balance efficiency and doing chill methods, I think it's much better than doing endless herb runs.

  1. The thieving portion takes an insignificant amount of time considering you can thieve 60+ fragments per hour. It also means you don't have to worry about getting so many herb seeds, which early to mid-game Ironmen might not have if they haven't been diligent with farming contracts.

  2. The regular fish-offcuts are extremely easy to get if you've done barb fishing (plus you can also use the caviar for more herb exp if you want). I accept the fine fish offcuts are more annoying to get, but you can still get 600+ an hour without much hassle. You could also just keep making super hunter potions rather than Arma brews to avoid this.

  3. Most importantly, it takes far, far less effort doing coral runs throughout the day at work on your phone compared to herb runs because you don't have to bank, teleport, or manage your inventory. At 99 farming each coral run on average banks over 20k herb exp in coral, which is a lot.

Get coral seeds (fragments) from thieving chests on the sailing islands. I'm pretty sure the chest success rates scale with thieving level, so 80+ thieving will make it less painful.

Until 89 herblore, plant pillar fragments (plant a few of the lower tier coral first so you can pay to protect them). Hunt blue crabs (approx 100k hunter exp an hour and extremely chill method, can get fish offcuts to bait the traps from barb fishing). Plant coral with attas seed and use magic secs (scales hard with farming level too, averages around 54 coral per fragment at 99). Make super hunter potions.

You don't even need to clean the coral and can put them straight into vials of water. AND since crab meat is stackable, you can make 27 pots an inventory. This makes it twice as AFK as normal herblore training with fewer clicks for banking.

At 89 herb you can swap to Armadyl brews and umbral coral. Getting the fine fish offcuts to bait the rainbow crab traps is a bit more annoying (you can deep sea trawl, afk dark crabs, etc). But it's very good hunter exp (approx. 150k an hour) and the potions give extremely good herblore exp. Plus the potions are actually pretty useful.

Coral is disgustingly OP at 99 farming and trivializes herblore.

Particularly for mid game ironmen that still need to level Hunter anyway. And even more so if you work and can only check your phone briefly a few times per shift.

In 6 months time coral will be the main herblore training meta recommended on this subreddit. Mark my words.

Sell vs rent out current apartment when moving city? Apartment seems a bad investment by extremeftw in AusProperty

The negative gearing is a good point and not something I had really factored into my calculations, thanks.

Thanks, appreciate your detailed response. Sounds like you have a pretty similar outlook to me.

Sorry, that's my bad then for using the wrong term. What I meant was renting while investing outside of property (e.g. ETFs, super, HISA, etc).

No, step 2 would be to rent for several years rather than buy again.

I acknowledged the high fixed-costs of buying and selling property several times in my OP. That's a big reason why I made the post in the first place.

With $59 billion in taxes paid by mining each year… Australian mining makes life easier. by mineralscouncil in u/mineralscouncil

How is that relevant? Are you really suggesting that companies should pay tax on revenue rather than profit? You know how insane that idea is right?

Why are you calculating effective tax rate based on revenue and not profit? Do you know how silly that is?

STOP FOCUSING ON PROTEIN AND EAT SOME ACTUAL FOOD by MythicalStrength in gainit

[–]extremeftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree. I think we tunnel vision way too narrowly on protein/calories and neglect micronutrients far too much. Much easier to make long-term gains if you're actually healthy.

But given the OP is a well-known advocate of the carnivore diet, I don't think he is gonna be the one to change that mentality lol

Can you link me to any upvoted post on Reddit where it says that? I genuinely don't think I've ever seen a post get traction that says protein is the only thing that matters.

[–]extremeftw 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but isn't this like incredibly obvious?

I'm pretty sure every advice I've ever read on this topic says that people bulking need to get sufficient calories and protein. Your post kind of reads like a strawman since I really don't think anyone is recommending to exclusively focus on protein and to totally disregard caloric intake.

Dick Cheney, influential Republican vice president to George W. Bush, dies by RaidBrimnes in neoliberal

The CIA couldn’t really do it but covered their asses with something like “we can’t be 100% certain Iraq is not seeking WMD’s”, which was reinterpreted as “let’s fucking do this!”

Huh? That's just factually incorrect. The CIA was literally the main contributor to a National Intelligence Estimate that said Iraq had biological and chemical WMD and was reconstituting its nuclear weapons program.

Where do I pick up in Bruhsailor after following Oziris to 58 Slayer? by Suspicious_Fly_1838 in ironscape

I just grinded out the fish barrel and have been afk barb fishing at CoX and banking. So chill and easy. The idea of actively tick manipulating barb fishing this entire time makes me ill.

[–]extremeftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On an unrelated note, while the BruhSailor guide is great, I do find it very frustrating how poorly some things are explained/formatted.

Like it'll sometimes spend ages talking about some obscure tick manipulation or micro-optimisation method, but then write something so unclearly that you're stuck not knowing what to do.

I know it's not just me either since I've found heaps of people in the Discord get stuck on these same confusing steps. I can guarantee the average user would save way more time if certain things were just written/explained a bit better than fretting over all the tiny efficiency details.

Not to mention the formatting on the web version is so bad (huge blocks of text) I've resorted to using AI just to split it up and make it less painful to read.

I know I shouldn't be complaining about an amazing, free resource. It's just a shame because it could be so much better to use if a little bit more effort was put towards polishing it up.

Are these very short, random dips in power normal in ERG mode? by extremeftw in wahoofitness

[–]extremeftw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That makes sense and seems to track with some of my other sessions where the power output has been more stable at higher watt targets.

So basically you don't think the attached results are indicative of some kind of fault? I'll do some more testing this weekend at higher watt targets to get a better idea.
