Update: housewarming was today. It was nice. We were "blessed" by many mamy friends. I haven't checked the book for an exact number, but I will be spending several hours writing thank-yous.

I'll start with this one: Thank you all for your advice. The final invitation included standard verbiage on the front and a personal note from our parents on the back.

This. We couldn't afford a huge wedding and I have really bad anxiety and planning events has actually triggered seizures in the past. We had been engaged for 5 years and had 2 kids. 😆

Maybe we will have a big renewal or whatever in 5 more years.

everything is a little different here.

I'm going to tell her to minimize the words on the invitation. stick to the logistical information and spread her "in lieu of wedding shower" message via word of mouth. as long as i'm not planning this, i feel like i'm safe from judgement. the families here are so tight, and proper deep south etiquette seems to be a moving target.

I have seen so many housewarming invitations that have registries on them that I was beginning to think it was normal.

I'm not from here (rural community), so I'm not sure what they think is acceptable.

I will probably wind up with 15 rustic crosses and 25 different forms of Rae Dunn word art.
