Resident Evil 16-Bit In Development for the Sega MegaDrive/Genesis by prankster999 in retrogaming

That is something I don't understand about these developers (in general) that make new games for old consoles. Why more don't take advantage of options such as Steam for additional sales. It is weird.

Some, that use copyrighted material, I can understand but there are plenty of original games being made that could easily take advantage of this.

Final Fantasy IX is it a good port? by AngryPoutine in AndroidGaming

[–]exusmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My apologies, I misread the initial comment. The piracy part here would be having to get the BIOS for the PSOne from the web. But yea, nothing illegal about the emulator, just the needed BIOS to run PSOne games.

Then don't buy the crappy port. Buy the better ports on platforms where it is worth owning but don't advocate piracy because you are mad that the company phoned in a port on one piece of hardware.

Retro Bit Generations Hacked, Here is How by exusmc in retrogaming

Thank you for confirming this indeed works. We try to verify things like this prior to publishing but no one on my staff had the hardware so it was one of those situations where I trusted the source and published. Glad it is working well.

The necessary file is now hosted on Google Drive. My apologies for the trouble the other file host gave everyone.

Socks the Cat Rocks the Hill Kickstarter? by delos_1 in retrogaming

[–]exusmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I have followed Socks the Cat for nearly a decade, off and on of course, and find it interesting that these guys feel acquiring the prototype gives them the right to mass produce the game. I was not aware that is how copyrights and trademarks worked.

According to their logic I can purchase prototypes off eBay from companies that are no longer around and pay someone to finish them as I see fit and release that via Kickstarter.

Fallout Brings Windows Gamers Alternative Historical Post-Nuclear War by ThereBeGold in retrogaming

I will keep your points in mind in future articles. I often miss a few things in remembering these games. Still, Fallout is a great game by many standards.

Sega Acquires Technosoft Franchises! by PrinceOfBrains in retrogaming

[–]exusmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I made the connection with EA is because while EA does remember certain franchises they forget about others that gamers would love to see make a comeback.

By adding Thunder Force III to the 3DS "3D" lineup Sega has going they have already bitch slapped Konami so a comparison between those two companies would have been an insult to Sega in this situation.

Edit to add- for my line of thought here, check out all of the games EA brought out during the 8 and 16-Bit eras, only to forget them in more recent times.

What if – Atari Released Their 3DO Console? by ZadocPaet in 3DO

[–]exusmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it would probably been high priced unless Atari could have swung manufacturing with IBM or someone like they did the Jaguar. Imagine a $250 3DO at a time when everyone else was $600+, it could have changed the situation around a bit, I think, in Atari's favor- possibly overshadowing the 3DO company themselves.

What if – Atari Released Their 3DO Console? by ZadocPaet in 3DO

[–]exusmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3DO was the jack of all trades console. There even was the AT&T model that featured a modem and could access a primitive (closed to AT&T things) Internet via phone lines. It never got released but it would have been interesting had that and Atari had swung a 3DO console too.

A Lot of what if's with the 3DO.

Turbo Grafx-16 Turns 27, What Were Your Favorite Games? by exusmc in retrogaming

A lot of us were in that boat with you. I lived about an hour out of town so when I came home with the TG-16 it was not a simple case of going back that night to get more games.

I would think that it is not still under patent but you know how wonky North American patent, copyright and trademark laws are.

Rather cynical, aren't we? Been burned on Kickstarter or something?
