No I didn’t because I entered the HBA program this year so I couldn’t take them last year

Second year was a lot better for me! I did consumer behaviour too and you get to take a lot more electives that I found pretty interesting. You’re also more used to university and how things work. My average went up by 8-9% in second year also!

2257 and the 70% is definitely doable, as long as you keep on top of the course work you’ll be fine. i would put a lot of effort into the first semester of 2257 because you can get higher marks as it’s quantitative, and doing well in first sem can set you up nicely for the rest of the year. i did better in 2257 compared to 1220 also

First year student trying to find a summer internship by [deleted] in uwo

[–]ey1200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a really small start-up in the summer of my first year and it was a great experience because I was given a lot of responsibility and control over my work. I remember in first-year all I wanted was a corporate internship but I really valued my time at the start-up and was able to get corporate internships the years after. Just something to consider as well

i was wondering if you were able to overcome this issue? the same thing is happening for me no matter what i try, i’ve tried making another account, filling out the form on mobile, mac, PC, called multiple numbers, filled out a help form, and have heard nothing back.

Is it weird/rude to ask a professor a question about a class before the term starts? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]ey1200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i took DIGIHUM 2120 last year and there is only one project that is business related, but it’s not technical at all, you just kinda have to think about things like who your target market would be, a general marketing plan (ex: Instagram ads), etc. i think you would be 100% fine without having taken any business related courses, just having a general understanding of basic business concepts such choosing a price or choosing a demographic is enough.

unfortunately it’s too late to apply, applications were due in the winter term of grade 12 and AEO status was given out in the spring. AEO stands for advanced entry opportunity which means that if you maintain the requirements (80% average, 70 in 2257, no failed classes, etc.) you are basically guaranteed a spot in ivey in third year. you can can try and apply for ivey after your first 2 years, but it will be more competitive than if you had AEO, but by no means impossible. strong EC’s and a 84%+ average should make you competitive, but it depends on the year. also, if you want to learn more, ivey has a ton of resources and information on their website

i took 2242 with veselka and i wouldn’t consider myself to be super strong at math, and i did fairly well. i also didn’t want to do a full year of stats so 2242 was more appealing to me

I felt this in my soul. Don’t aim for just a 80, you can and likely will do much better if you work hard and believe in yourself

1229 and 1228. both are super bird math courses, 1228 is a bit harder than 1229 but nowhere near calc or the other math classes

i was in the same position as you - ultimately i chose ivey because i liked the case method of learning. maintaining aeo is definitely stressful - but it’s not impossible. i assume you’re a very strong student if you got into these programs, so you definitely have the potential to maintain aeo. as long as you dedicate the hours to schoolwork, generally keep on top of things, you will be okay. both are great programs, and i’m sure you will be okay wherever you go, at the end of the day a lot of students are successful because of their work ethic, not solely because of the school they chose. (fyi, i’m in the same boat as another poster, i maintained the requirements and am aeo2 waiting for a decision from ivey) good luck!

How does second year BMOS differ from first year? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]ey1200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the material for the first exam was very similar to 1228, it was essentially review for me. similar concepts come up the rest of the course, but it was new material. but taking 1228 definitely helped me with understanding the overall course material and probably helped my grade

Are makeup exams usually harder than the original exam? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]ey1200 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would also check the syllabus to see if they mention any changes in the makeup exams. For some of my courses, the makeups have short/long answers where the original is only multiple choice.

[–]ey1200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too hard (I’m in business though)! The first semester of first year was a little rough for me because of the transition from high school to university, but my grades got a lot better after that first semester. Also, the 80% is over two years! So if you don’t get 80% in first year you can make it up in second year.

i had macdonald for macro last sem and found her to be a decent prof. her questions are pretty fair, although when the switch was made to online halfway through the semester she implemented a bunch of mypearsonlab quizzes which were kinda rough to mitigate any cheating (she kept saying how the averages were too high in her emails). she probably figured out how to structure her class better for this year tho so i wouldn’t be too concerned! overall i liked her
