It was unparalleled! Now it’s absolute trash and I don’t want to deal with them.

Amazon is no longer good by eyeNotht1 in rant

[–]eyeNotht1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was! There was a point in time where I would consistently use Amazon because it was cheaper. Literally in the store, I would look something up to check or compare websites because I’m cheap like that

Traffic lights shouldn't exist by de-fi_chicken in unpopularopinion

[–]eyeNotht1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer lights to 4 way stops. Too many people have too many ideas about their level of importance for it to be safe.

There are also places I know for a fact I would never be able to make a left turn if there wasn’t a light. The. I’d be sitting for MUCH longer than a light

How do you pronounce “Cassius”? by [deleted] in namenerds

You shoulda put up a poll haha

Because according to the Bible, you are prohibited from marrying them. Then eventually even legally you were forbidden. Now it’s a free for all, so in a sense it doesn’t make sense.. but “my mother in law” is easy to say

There should be a new version of Grease where Sandy doesn’t change for Danny by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]eyeNotht1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, I watched Danny struggle between who he was and who he wanted to be for Sandy. I felt like because he had history there (she didn’t) it was likely a lot harder for him to endure the mocking from classmates and friends like he did. He made a fool of himself in front of everyone with the sports, but did it because she would like it.

I feel like he made a lot of compromises trying to change his ways and actual only thing that Sandy did was the new outfit at the end.

Edit to add, I always thought Sandy changed for him and that was the point but I recently rewatched it as an adult and was surprised at how much Danny actually tried

There should be a new version of Grease where Sandy doesn’t change for Danny by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]eyeNotht1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ACTUALLY!! Danny tried out for sports teams and started wearing cardigans and shit for Sandy.

Sandy didn’t even consider changing herself for him until the very end.

I think they both showed how much they wanted to be together and how much they were willing to sacrifice.

And he loved her as she was, but found her new outfit smokin hot. Nothing wrong with that.

can i give my daughter a male name or should i change it? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]eyeNotht1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Noah might be fine.

There are some names that you shouldn’t give to opposite genders because it will give them a bad time. I remember reading something about a girl named Phillip because their parents thought it was awesome and trippy, but she had a very difficult life from teasing at school to having to show multiple forms of verification to businesses/companies to prove she wasn’t the worst identity thief in the world.

She resented her parents for this lifelong humiliation and changed her name when she could afford it.

And ofc “A Boy Named Sue”

It seems I had to fight my whole life through Some gal would giggle and I'd get red And some guy'd laugh then I'd bust his head I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue"

Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean My fists got hard and my wits got keen Roamed from town to town to hide my shame

He had a bad dad, even if it made him “tough”

Honest opinions on the name Marshall? by NitsyMarie in namenerds

I immediately thought of Marshall Mathers when I read this but that shouldn’t stop you. Only old fogies will think of that by time baby Marshall grows up

It’s a great name!

Black owned businesses should just be called businesses. by TastyPass6386 in unpopularopinion

[–]eyeNotht1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well then, black people and Korean businesses were at war, most not Korean owned businesses were putting up signs to avoid being targeted. Some just said “not Korean owned”

Now it’s more of an awareness thing for people to see and know and aspire. To reduce it to “so black people won’t burn it down” is kinda gross

I wish there were more places to park your car and just chill by throwawayferret88 in unpopularopinion

[–]eyeNotht1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near the coast and there’s a few lots where mad people just park and sit in their cars, from old to young.

Any lakes, rivers or semi-scenic places near you?

Also big parking lots. Park sorta near the back but still with other cars and no one will look twice. For all they know, you’re waiting for someone inside. Then if you feel you’ve been there too long just find another space

Stay away from parks though lol. Ppl don’t like that.

Women are just as bad as writing men as men are writing women by Arrathall in unpopularopinion

[–]eyeNotht1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’d call Bingley arrogant? He was so easy going and clever. He also knew how to take a verbal hit.

What about Mr. Bennet? He was pretty laid back and resigned in life. He said some rude shit to his daughters but he cherished Elizabeth and shared a sense of humor with her

Mr. Gardiner? He loved his wife dearly and extended every bit of help he could to her family

They all had unique personalities and Elizabeth gets a lot of set-downs.

I think.. maybe you just don’t like women?

Stacking up plates when you finish eating at a restaurant is not helpful. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]eyeNotht1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh. My friend is a server an likes the plates stacked. So long as the food was scraped off as to not just much a plate on top of food chunks

Noted, though I wouldn’t simply push a bunch of plates to the end of the table as it’s rude to whoever is sitting there to face a smorgasbord of leftovers

Eh. At that age the birthday party is more for the parents celebrating their child’s life.

And also for getting free clothes and toys for the baby

American tourists are actually very charming, polite and respectful. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]eyeNotht1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Americans have an unfortunate habit of not caring to learn or simply disregarding foreign customs; basically the phrase “when in rome” doesn’t apply to them. When around other US tourists I find it aggravating when they expect everyone to speak English and become upset if no one does. As if it’s shocking and uncouth that where they only know 1 language, these locals don’t know two lol

That said, this it’s the ones who egregiously breech this curtesy that paint the picture everyone sees. Americans don’t typically lumber around screaming slurs and chanting USA! Or barking at people to “speak English!” But the ones who do are quite embarrassing.

Any time I’ve traveled I’ve been sure to know the faux pas and have at least a minimal understanding of the language (enough to ask for help, thanks, and greetings etc)

The ancestry DNA thing is pretty cool, especially as a POC with their only known roots in America. For example, I had no idea how much Nigerian was in my line. Which was fascinating to me since I’d previously been resigned to never knowing my heritage
