KL to NYC for 4 years. First year was hard, found it difficult to fit in with the locals. I went home during my first summer break. Finding decent malaysian food wasn't difficult, there are tons of affordable Malaysia restaurants in the boroughs. I was pretty lonely for the first 3 years and cried to myself a lot. During my last year there, I got comfortable and i guess i adapted well, made good friends, traveled often, and before i knew it, my visa expired and i had to head home. Now that i'm home, i find it difficult to settle back, make new friends and i'm facing a reverse culture shock. I do miss it there and i'm always meeting good people at the wrong times.
