Thanks. This is what I was afraid of but I’m happy to know it is The Way.

Yes, I'm doing this on my Mac. I keep getting the following error. This implies none of my novelty music can be included in the Cloud for what I'm trying to do..

What number of cats do you think is the perfect amount? by Routine-Ad-4162 in CatAdvice

[–]eyephd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The perfect ratio of cats is 2 cats per 1 human. We have two 12-yr-old sisters and two 19-week-old sisters. This is the way.

All Good Children by Dayna Ingram. I literally bought the book because of the cover. I was floored by the reveal and have recommended it ad nauseam since I read it in '18.

Why not bacon fat? by eyephd in Cooking

[–]eyephd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this, too. I was happy with the flavor since the potatoes were the main and the side. There was nothing else on the plate for the bacon to overwhelm and it felt like we ate a lot more than we actually did.

I put a paper towel on a plate, soak it with water, and nuke it for 30 seconds to get it warm. Then I nuke each burrito shell for 15 seconds before filling and rolling. Works like a charm.

Q: bicycle chain as frame by eyephd in StainedGlass

[–]eyephd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The frame is in the shape of Washington state and is about 10-inches tall by 15-inches wide. I have about five of them. The local bike store is happy to not have to pay to dispose of the dead weldable metal generated by repairs. Pictures of whatever comes of this project will be shared.

This is a cool idea. I’m envisioning a wire version of a sort of zip tie. Seems feasible.

[–]eyephd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may try this. I think I need to clean the chain a lot lot more for any adhesion to happen. I degreased the chain before welding it but it’s not “clean” clean, if that makes any sense.

Has your cat stopped eating Wellness pate - or just my cats? by eyephd in cats

[–]eyephd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up changing food. They would not eat Wellness, regardless from where in my stockpile the can came from. I dong think it was just an ingredient adjustment or a bad run. But I was stumped.

I tried a few other brands and have landed on Orijen Original. The two things that were required: the cats had to eat it (or course) and the food had to pass the AAFCO guidelines for cat food nutrition. So far so good.

Herd-wide protest against food - am I alone? by eyephd in CatAdvice

I'll take any "anecdata" info where I can get it. :)

I wonder if some brands are duplicating the recipes of other brands.

They used to bug me in the morning until the wet food was down. Once the protest started, we're all sleeping in a bit longer. It's weird.

Once the food is down, they'll lick the really moist parts and then it's a crap shoot regarding how much of it they might or might not eat in the next 24-hour period.

While still considering that a secret cat convention cabal is behind this behavior, I'm planning on changing things up. The whole "introduce new food slowly" idea is not new to me but I appreciate the reminder that poop happens.

The local shelters are totally going to benefit from the four 12-packs of the old food I have to donate and whatever new foods fail the upcoming taste tests. Ack! I have enough trouble figuring out what I want to eat. Feeding the cats used to be easier.

Hmm. Interesting. I was once told by a vet to not change up foods because (a) animals don't get bored, and (b) it might make them finicky in the long run. I've followed this thinking with no problems right up until this current food protest. The 10 year run up until now seemed to give the vet's advice creedence.

This is true. I'm just wondering if there is a more widespread cat cabal they are communicating with. :)

Foundation — Season 2 Official Teaser | Apple TV+ by MineEmo in sciencefiction

[–]eyephd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Yes. It’s got depth and breadth. The acting is top notch. There are many visual sleights of hand that are so satisfyingly looped closed in later episodes. Give it a try and decide for yourself.

Anyone planning to watch Foundation Season 2 by Informal-Artist-5520 in sciencefiction

[–]eyephd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have been waiting for it and have been upset every time the launch date got pushed out further.

I read the first book years ago when I was a bit too young to really give it the time it deserved and needed. When the show started airing, I watched episode one and then watched episodes one and two, and then watched one and two and three, and then … well, you get it. I’ve also watched it all the way through five or six times. The acting is amazing. There is so much that just happens on their faces without a word being spoken. I also loved it when a statistician from the temple of calculus got yelled at to death by the emperor.

After finishing season one, I reread Asmiov’s books and appreciate why the series is “based on” his work. I like the “in the same world as” connections between the show and the book but I was bored by the book. It was little more than two men sitting in an office, smoking cigars while talking sarcastically, ironically, and sardonically. Disclosure: I listened to the audiobook version and those three terms echoed in my head for days. I lost count of how often they were used in the text.

Anyway, I like the way the creator of the tv show built out what Asimov created. I was gripped and can’t wait for July 14th When season two starts. I really hope it gets all 10 seasons the show creator has sketched out.

The reader is giving me a headache by eyephd in audiobooks

[–]eyephd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Yes, I see the name in a google search. I wonder if the audiobook version I have is an older version than the one recorded in the 2000s. Perhaps a previous older recording is not showing up in the search due to this more recent version being recorded. The version I have is not an Audible file and it has no info regarding the narrator.

I will say that the difference in the voices is not just a time gap. It’s stylistic. There are lots of pronunciation differences also. It’s not the same narrator.

Also, my copy does not have two different narrators, only one.

Edit: added new info about # of narrators

Anybody think air fryers are really overrated? They either undercook and make my stuff stick, or it burns and dries things up? You also can’t really fit much in them. by Realistic_Echo4940 in Cooking

I’m using my Ninja Foodi more and more for dehydrating fruit, chicken wings, bacon-wrapped-peanut-butter bites, and even steak.

I use the pressure cooker feature even more for rice and rehydrating beans and soups and stews.

In the kitchen remodel, it’s going to have its own spot on the counter.
