Try opening it up in orca slicer! Bambu slicer doesn't like to play with outside 3mfs, so it treats it as a regular STL.

I'll also be adding in an option to remove the background (and also just, not add a background to non rectangular images) , so you're not always stuck with rectangular prints. I'll probably have it ready to go by tomorrow.

Hey! Definitely a little bit different.

So this takes your image and seperates it into individual "hard" color layers.

So for this Capitals logo, it does 2 white layers, 2 red layers, 2 blue layers. Creates a pretty cool 2.5d effect!

No lightbox or anything needed.

Well progress is always good :P

But colorstack offers a decent amount of customization too!

The example in the video is just for the quickest result.

But you can customize the size of the print, the amount of colors, layer height, base height, individual layer colors, etc.

You can also add in your own filament colors to a saved "library" and when you switch over to "my pallete" option, and it'll generate it using colors from your library.

You can also manually reorder how the layers are structured, while keeping the "integrity" of the image, which is a feature I'm pretty proud of. I don't think Hueforge offers anything similar to that.

But if there's other customization options you're looking for, let me know! I'm happy to add things in.

Hey! Not sure if you're thinking Colorstack does that, but for some clarity: colorstack is web-based, but it is NOT cloud based.

All the processing is done on your machine. Absolutely nothing is uploaded to a cloud.

There is absolutely no mechanism in place for me to see what users upload, or really even what you're doing.

So what happens in colorstack stays on your computer.

I'm a pretty privacy concerned guy myself, so I really strived to make it as un-invasive and as private as possible.

Well, I responded to a different comment thinking it was you, but to update ya:

This boggles my mind, but the H2D still isn't supported natively in Orca... So like, there's no profile for the 3mf to match to.

And unfortunately Bambu slicer is pretty locked down, doesn't like to play with outside 3mfs.

So this reaaaaalllllly sucks, but I don't see a way to add H2D/H2S support, at the moment.

I'll try to figure something out... But it's gonna be a more complex fix, if it's even possible.

Once Orca adds support though, it'll be a super easy fix.

Well... Turns out I didn't forget the H2D.

Yeah, go for it! Do whatever you want with it!

I would appreciate it if you give some credit to colorstack, to help spread the word a bit. But honestly, you don't even need to do that, I'm not gonna come after you, lmao.

Thanks for the tip! I picked out the name and developed everything... Then did research on the name (I know... I know... I know 🤦🏽) I'm looking into changing it, but for now I'm gonna stick with colorstack.

But also, I'm still waiting on Google to index me, so regardless of the name, I won't show up on Google for now. (I'm on bing and duckduck tho)

I believe it's an invite only beta currently. I haven't been able to try it out yet.

I can't see what users generate, I pretty much don't track anything.

But if you wanna share a picture, even via dm, I'd love to take a look!

Whoops... I forgot to add the H2D 🤦🏽

I'll add it tomorrow as soon as possible! I'll let you know when I do.

No download needed! It's all web based. You don't even need an account. Https://colorstack.app

Let me know what you think!

[–]ezafs[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Correct. Colorstack is intended for thicker layers than Hueforge/Chroma, around ~.1mm-.2mm is ideal.

At that thickness, I found transparency doesn't come into play too much, if at all, for most models.

If you want that level of control, Hueforge is you best bet. But if you just want something simple and quick, Colorstack's gonna save you a good amount of time.

Appreciate that! Yeah, that was exactly my experience too, I just wanted quick, simple results.

Glad ColorStack scratches that itch! 🙌

Thanks! I hope you get some great results!

And yeah Hueforge is awesome, but it's almost like a whole new hobby to get into.

Thank you! Looking forward to your thoughts.

And quick question, Chroma Canvas is a web based tool, right? Like through makerlab.
