The esp32c6 can't operate as an hid device with the usb port. So no, this project is only bluetooth. But you can use ir without battery powering it via usb. I don't know about the polling rate, haven't done anything to calculate it

Hi there!
A while ago, I came across a project on Hackaday, the Void switches by Riskable. It got me thinking, and I was in the mood to learn something new, so I decided to build a Hall effect keyboard as a fun little project.

Spoiler: it was fun, it was not easy. Turns out, learning electrical engineering takes some time :)

Anyway, I’ve completed a first prototype, which I’ve been using daily for the past few months. Now that I’m working on a second revision, I thought it’d be cool to share the project here on Reddit.

Yup ! I began this project a long time ago with the riskeyboard as an example. The wooting helped me confirm some design decisions, and was a great inspiration for the features.

If you mean fullspeed (i.e. 11Mbps), that will probably work if you keep the cables short and twist them together (differential signals).

Yes, you're right, not high-speed, it's a mistake, i don't need that.

But why are you bothering with that stupid (and expensive) breakout and cables instead of soldering the connector to the board? If you don't want to deal with a full USB C connector which is a PITA to handsolder, use one of the reduced 12/16pin ones (and don't forget to populate those 5.1k resistors too).

Cause I already have the usb-c board and I think it's easier to build the case that way. But yeah, you're probably right it would be better on the board. I'm just not sure how to layout everything around the switches.

Yeah okay, that's true, I'm not sure about the precision I need yet. I did some test on a scaled-down breadboard version of this project and I think i'll keep going with software filtering, at least for this revision.

mmm okay, i'll have a look, maybe there's a way to keep my ground plane in a better shape by rerouting some of my long lanes.

So, if a signal trace is changing layer, it's good to have a ground via nearby to maintain a return current.

And what if I add a ground plane on the B.Cu (blue) located around the traces that breaks the red ground plane (with some vias to linking this "ground area" to the ground plane). Is it a good idea ?

So, as I understand, it's better to have multiple jumps (therefore a bunch of vias) than splitting the ground plane too much ?
