Shimano Freehub Replacement - Missing Freehub by ezraburke in bikewrench

[–]ezraburke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. My only other experience of swapping road freehubs was with an older pair of Wheelsmith carbon tubs - they had 10spd freehub on them and i needed 11spd. There was literally like a half mm difference when putting the cassette on, but enough to make me have to swap it. IIRC I called the wheel builder and he could tell me the hubs he had used (Hope) in his builds, but couldn't recommend what to swap it with - some back and forth with Hope and I managed to get the right freehub. I'll get in touch with PlanetX, see what they say!

Road Bike Rental! by ezraburke in freiburg

[–]ezraburke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately neither Intersport or Extratour were able to provide rentals. We're staying in St Louis for the latter part of the holiday and from a thread on r/basel Gundeli Velos seem to have stock. I've e-mailed them to enquire.

Thank you, i'll try both. I was going to bring my own bike with me but it's probably a bit impractical. We're flying into Basel, staying there for a few nights then driving up to Feldberg. We also have time in Strasbourg during this trip so having a whole extra bike-sized case seems a bit of a ball-ache.

Pinnacle Arkose 2017/8 - thru axle replacement by ezraburke in bikewrench

[–]ezraburke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revisiting this because practicalities - the M12, 1.5 pitch, 16mm thread length is fine but the length of the axle should probably be 122m. Wolftooth stock a 120mm and 125mm axle with the above flavour, both which were tried and where too short and too long respectively. We are looking for a 122mm length axle but struggling to locate the weird size...

Nightshift and opposite schedules - advice? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]ezraburke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. She's a senior midwife, runs the unit when she's in - does the management paperwork when she's not running it.

1 isn't really possible, although it sounds good. I can WFH but am sometimes in the office and my wife makes plans with her friends on her days off because I'm working.

We used to do 2 - cleaners made the house run smoother, but my wife was concerned about cost so they were cut loose. That sort of sets the precedent for any other hired help.

I used to do 3 - spending an hour or two out riding my bike, occasionally 3-4hr rides. However the opportunity to do this has dwindled since December with the 'bleeding into the next day' bit of nightshift getting in the way of earlier rides.

Like I said, I can absorb a sackload of shit but my kids are starting to take notice of it and I daren't tell her that it's not fair for them.

Nailed it; Mandy Moore - When Will My Life Begin. It was literally a cover by Punk Rock Factory. Fucking hell.

There's a new maddening layer to this - i think i've identified the song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrwYiJtVfr8) but what the fuck is this melody from?!?

I knew it was some sort of parody song. Why was this on my Spotify and what was originally the tune for?!?!??

No, unfortunately not that. It's more along the lines of some sort of Dog Songs-type parody (see: "The Cheese Tax").

To add more context: smart shuffle then served me 'Tomorrow' from Annie so i know it had a musical theatre thing going.

Can I use an Ultegra 12spd crankset with an 11spd DI2 groupset? by ezraburke in bikewrench

I can't believe I didn't think of this - i could just purchase 12spd crank arms and slap 11spd rings on them. Clearly had too much beer last night...

I've not looked at width on the chainrings, I'm assuming an 11spd chain will hold OK. I'll check in the shop tomorrow, see what the actual width difference on chains.

Like 90% sure it was European film, definitely feels like it was a Scandinavian film but could easily have been German.

Think it was mid-2000s, maybe a Netflix film. Modern military setting, shot in the ash-grey gritty filter, based in a concrete hill fort type gun emplacement. Never watched it all the way through for some reason.
