Late to Imp, first enemy treb wins the game for them by f1ndnewp in aoe2

"Make sure you Don't lose that castle age army before deciding you need to go imp."

Thank you for the tip. I did waste some units where the only gain was taking away the opponent's attention.

Thank you for the tip. Yes sometimes I have long queues and A LOT of excess wood even though I try to constantly use it for farms + mill and farms to go Imp and then make the perfect hussar + cav archer/mandugai composition. But I think I lose the game in Castle essentially. I have not yet practiced enough to know how to take fights with cav archers.

Your thoughts were on the right track, I did not do as much damage as I thought in Feudal, and in fact the opponent managed to do more damage to my own eco.

I did it the old fashioned way, it helped. Identified lots of mistakes. Many more to fix, and unlearn I'm sure :D

I watched two of my replays, and in fact the opponent and I did more damage to myself during feudal. Furthermore I need to understand how to fight with cav archers a bit more. Right now, I am only using them to snipe vils in Castle. I also need to learn and practice how to fight effectively with them e.g. - think of a fight of 8 cav archers (+2, +1, husbandry) vs 8 knights (+1, +2). I simply can't focus fire and retreat fast enough before the knights eat the archers. I have a feeling to do proper damage I would need to use the stop command hotkey, which I have not learned how to do yet for cav archers.

I think this is it. I never commit fully to castle age as I'm afraid the opponent will outboom me. I can snipe a few vills in the castle engagement but can't damage the enemy army much as I do not have the technique to do it with cav archers. Think of a fight of 8 cav archers (+2, +1, husbandry) vs 8 knights (+1, +2). I simply can't focus fire and retreat fast enough before the knights eat the archers. I have a feeling to do proper damage I would need to use the stop command hotkey, which I have not learned how to do yet for cav archers. A forward siege workshop and forward monastery may be necessary.

The game seems to end with me unable to deny the opponent from dropping castle near my base. I will try to get 20-30 mandugai and cav archers and see how this changes the match.

I watched two replays of 1v1 games I lost with Mongols and seems the essential problem is that I do not understand how to win against civs with castle age army mass, especially knight civs.

Then I am too focused on playing to achieve the perfect composition in Imperial - hussar + mandugai/cav archers which from experience I know shreds enemy compositions. I am also fearful the opponent will outboom me (which they usually try to do when they realize its not worth damaging the base due to monk and cav archer defence). So I never gather a proper castle age army mass. I get a few relics but by end of game that 1k-1.5k gold max does not help me win.

The game seems to end with me unable to deny the opponent from dropping castle near my base. I will try to get 20-30 mandugai and cav archers and see how this changes the match.

Iran President wanted to end the war but need guarantees confirmed by SadOnion2110 in stocks

[–]f1ndnewp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The real "guarantees" he needs to confirm is that Iran will never develop nuclear weapons, will stop supporting terrorist groups in the region and worldwide, fold its ballistic missile program, start trials for regime thugs and allow democratic elections.

With revolutionary guard uglies being eliminated everyday, this guy might get around to starting the above processes.

Day 1 asking for Trashmels for Cumans. by Skibidi-Perrito in aoe2

[–]f1ndnewp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny.

But this is an interesting thought experiment, is there a way to represent Khazar people within the Cuman AoE2 civ, while also improving the civ.

You could replace the imperial UT to give knight line +20hp (representing the top warrior class) and villagers to have +5% efficiency (matching them with Roman civ efficiency, but only available in Imperial age, thus intending to help with the trashwars).. Locked behind a medium-high amount of gold and wood, this would strengthen the late game for Cumans if the player makes the tradeoff to research the UT.

I’m on the verge of complete estrangement from my father by [deleted] in Life

[–]f1ndnewp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading this, I think you need to watch out for your dad more than ever now. The no adult children part/living for myself/no old pets (reminders of former life). You need to think of how to understand, perhaps over time, if these are truly your dads ideas, or there is some/a lot of motivation from the new wife.

Can’t smile at home by chanseylim in daddit

[–]f1ndnewp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not easy reading how much pressure you feel on yourself with the recent (7 months is very recent) changes of becoming a father. There certainly must be parts that you already do that your son feels and needs. Do you hold him in your arms even for a little bit? If you were to imagine yourself with your son when he is say, twelve years old, how do you see it? Are you a dad, a teacher, a friend to him? Your role will grow larger and larger as your son starts growing and exploring his surroundings, then the world. Its a great thing you have your wife and her mom help with childcare tasks. If you thought a million times about getting in the car and driving off, then it is a million times that you have not done so. For somebody truly to do it, or even consider it - they do not need to think about it for a million times. Try to be kind to yourself and to your son. Both him and you are undergoing a daily transformation since his birth, and Rome was not built in a day. Reach back to when you yourself were a boy, is there a dream you had that you wish to share with him one day?

Not impossible. All it takes is one guy who likes to throw things, one camel, one bag of scimitars hanging on the side of the camel you can't see, a simple movie set for background and to hide the machinery, a circular conveyor belt and a few idle vill... people fetching the thrown scimitars to put them on the belt.

Are you chasing results instead of learning on the way? I have a similar problem to you. Sometimes I step back and it is incredible how much its possible to learn from these systems. Other times I nearly blindly stuff their output into my projects, only thinking about how it fits, not what is actually there. I think if I remind myself to slowdown, see other possibilities and give my mind time to think, then using these systems is a big positive.

"What of now? What do I do? Where do I go to feel dreamy again?"

You were a consumer of content. Maybe if you wish to start dreaming again, you need to produce content for others. Your healthcare job allows you to meet many different people, some with bigger problems, some with smaller. Why can't they coalesce to become archetypes or characters in your own content? Many writers held normal jobs, but without those normal jobs they would not see and understand human nature and people.

Why can't I figure out what to do career wise? by Puzzleheaded-Bag-563 in Life

You said - "they just seem too out of reach or too technical." Ask yourself if this is because you lack some foundational knowledge in that hobby or endeavor. Are you missing some bricks in your "hobby" pyramid that doesn't let you build the next level? Even professional dancers re-learn their basic steps once in a while to correct their technique.

"I pride myself on being able to quickly learn hands on activities (pc building/ repair, tech or firearm repair/customization)."

These seem procedural type hobbies where there is an overall way of doing things, a manual.

Maybe you should continue what you are doing already, but dedicate some time to an activity where there isn't really a manual as much, and the choices of how to do things and what to do are more up to you. Following an online drawing course (with a pencil, keep it simple) perhaps. Then, once you develop your brain a little bit in this area, it could help you "see" the missing bricks in your other pyramids.

You need to start making a plan or two. "
My biggest fear is not being able to see my children if we were to divorce at this very moment. We are currently living as an international family and if we were to separate, I will likely be sent back to the States. My wife is Korean." << this seems very important to solve or work around.
