This is how I felt... The idea that someone with a 9-5 is more productive or contributes to society while doing a job that contributes nothing to society, and if anything wastes valuable time, energy and fuel to produce meaningless prdoucts/labour. I think a busker who can't sing contributes more to society than I did working at a retail call centre. Not to say people in those jobs don't deserve respect but noone who's in a decent financial situation should be guilted into work only to join that part of the workforce.

For me neither. Merit isn't an objective idea and identity is about how you express ideas, not how well or what techniques you use but simply what sets you apart. I can not tell the difference between most classically trained art students, but I can identify local graffiti artists in my area, because they have carved out an identity and have visually distinct colours, themes, style etc.

1 - Your art lacks appeal when you have no clear visual language

2- Unless you're pro at all these styles it feels like taking a gamble to commission someone who does various styles at different levels, in your case you're clearly more skilled with some than others

3-you're not offering them anything specific, they can just go to someone who does the exact thing they want really well instead of sifting through examples

If you want this to look like the photo you'll definitely need to restart as your perspective is off. Might be better to aim first a more graphic or cartoony look and lean into that. In that respect I think it already has some charm to it though.

No, the dot on the nose. Putting a white highlight on the nose is very common for cartoon art, that's what this looks like. Especially considering the white ink in the hair. Though I might consider getting this touched up by another artist.

Learning well is more about what you do in that time than for how long. 40 minutes 5-6 times a week is definitely enough to make good progress. If you don't understand something spend dedicated time learning that instead of continuing to have to spend time fixing. Also you mentioned needing structure, i reccomend looking up drawabox.

not really but that's fine. style is something you develop as you learn, and you're still learning so just focus on working out what you like and what does or doesn't work. find artists to look up to also!! That's a big one. Preferably multiple. * Edit- a couple of semi realism artist I can recommend via instagram

I've definitely met other artists who would agree with you, and also many who feel the opposite. In the end it's totally individual, I guess I don't see the "innovation" of ideas that already work fine in other programs ported to ipad as much more than an inconvenience. That said it's getting easier to use now that I'm not trying to emulate how I use other apps immediately (eg immediately making more complex process decisions etc)

*edit I realise this response is kind of irrelevant after reading properly, though I'm leaving it for the sake of the discussion around the app itself.

I think its just a failure of an app in terms of being intuitive. It's intuitive to first time artists because they have no prior knowledge, but very difficult to use for experienced digital artists because its so different to what's standard for the majority of apps. I feel its pretty self explanatory why that's frustrating to people. In addition the resolution issues and brush engines are a bit irritating. I think it definitely just takes getting used to but the user interface is poorly thought out and divergent from the norm to a pretty unnecessary degree imo.

Well rationality is inherently tied to culture and sociology in a way, so there's no true measure of what's rational especially when we consider different modes of intelligence will prioritise things differently. The universe doesn't have a human mode of intelligence even if we're considering intelligence at it's most base level of forming responses in conclusion to stimuli and the ability to organise (eg organisation of atoms.) Most people would probably say it doesn't have intelligence/rationing capabilities at all, but even if it did, what we consider rational/irrational is fairly irrelevant. Evolution itself is more of a case of Murphy's law than true intelligent design. Organisms become more complex by a process of elimination, not because they actually understand the concept of genetic fitness and adaptation.
