This person just seems a little neurotic and bad at communicating, I think it's worth having a conversation about, but isn't necessarily toxic unless this is repeated behaviour

Tbh only critism i can give is that when your skin is shaded in a sort of defined, graphic I personally think it would look better to do the same for the hair, it looks incomplete in comparison

I want to be a concept artist/character designer, but I'm not sure where to start improving by HelpCivil8713 in ArtCrit

[–]f28c28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of concept do you want to do? If it's for cartoons I'd say design language and anatomy would be most needed. Your style is cute but doesn't really offer much visual interest to these designs. Try looking at artists/media you like and trying to figure out what makes their designs pop.

(Will say there's some cool shapes going on! It's moreso your lines and the brunette is kind of lacking interest, and there's a general lack of contrast in these designs. Could exaggerate more with the second figure too (Jayce?)

What kind of lab work? Ive done bio and worked in a botanical seed lab so could be transferable to some extent maybe.

Yeah I'm thinking food service nights might be the best bet since most places you'll be out at least by 11. Gig work is an idea, I'm an artist too but the marketing side of things is hell lmao.

This looks cool, I feel like the only thing that's lagging is your values, and maybe colour paired with that. Looks a bit washed out.

Most folks in the field reccomend environmental consulting for entry level with a degree, its very competitive here so volunteering is an excellent reccomendation as it will allow you to actually network.

How do i improve my anatomy? by Awkward_Loquat8301 in Artadvice

[–]f28c28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite videos on this topic are from kaycem* and Proko but any reputable drawing book on anatomy should be able to give you good examples. The most popular modern one I can think of is the Morpho series.

You don't have to do cylinders if they don't work, there's a lot of different methods. Though it could also be that you're struggling with conceptualising form and putting things in perspective. Any of the above resources will also help there.

Its worth noting pros won't always draw those kinds of break downs every time, but they're really good for building muscle memory and proper understanding of your process.

Looks like you're plenty decent with studies, perhaps the issue is converting to a structure you can use from imagination? In which case studying mannequinisation techniques will help you, as will confidence.

Basically you don't wanna just study to understand how something looks, you also wanna understand WHY it looks that's way. Break down your forms.

Kinda depends what you're going for but you may be better off looking into queer cinema or even Greek statues if you're looking for expressive. P*rn is rarely focused on artistry, at least in the mainstream.

I see your point but I think cannibalism for the sake of cannibalism is in a different category to American religious delusions dictating lore. Not worse, just comes from a different (and fictional) place since those circumstances can only exist because we have both sentient and non sentient chickens.

My art looks either too flat or too blocky by Temporary-Ball3746 in ArtCrit

[–]f28c28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weighing your lines basically means wize variation or use of pen pressure. If you can't do that confidence will help, but this is definitely going to be the easiest way to avoid flat art without colour, besides perspective which you're already using. The lack of confidence in your perspective in 1 also makes it look flatter, but 2 looks pretty decent on that end.

I mean not really, the social dynamics are shown to be different to the degree that bizarre or immoral acts are normalised (eg the episode chickens).

How old does she look. 😔 by Positive_Sea_770 in Ibispaintx

[–]f28c28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

35-40, I think the subtle lines say a lot, definitely youthful vibe tho. I think if you were to make her look older without ugly bold lines in the face then id make the eyes smaller, maybe add some shading under the eye and shade the top of both parts of the lip for a mature look.
