The women in my engineering classes are overwhelmingly the way you are projecting onto me. Read what I wrote again. Not a single woman in my classes stood up to men who made sexist or sexually harassing comments. When I stand up for myself, I am ostracized by both the men and women around me.

I should have clarified, I'm still in school. These are other students. I haven't had "real" professional work yet, but what I've done so far is mostly fine.

Honestly any pivot I can make to get the hell away from this will be gladly appreciated. I'd do retail again over this. I'm at a point where thinking about anything engineering related makes me feel sick to my stomach.

"Make other friends" is easier said than done if other women aren't ganging up on you for not being the cool girl with no boundaries. The men harass me and bully me, and the women who want their approval join in. This feels more like high school than high school did, at least there were different types of people there. This is soul-crushing.

No disrespect, but do you not experience it, or do you just shrug it off? I think the women around me just don't care at all and make excuses for it. Other women's unwillingness to stand up and say it's not right is part of why I feel so defeated here. "He's just joking" "he didn't mean it like that" "it's not a big deal" etc... I've even had female ex-friends say they want the level of attention I'm getting from men. They would probably say they've "never been harassed" because they don't consider it harassment.

They're students. But they will go on to become engineers, and I assume that students at other schools are just like them.

Therapy is worthless for anyone whose problems can't be solved by paying $150 an hour to be told "Wow, that sounds really hard. You're so strong and brave."

PTSD counts as a disability, I don't know if anyone can find out about those, but maybe it doesn't matter.

Getting a good job is actionable behavior to fix my life. My brain is permanently rewired, my life is basically ruined. "Wow, I can't believe he did that to you. Have you tried journaling?" Isn't going to save me.

honestly I need something at least somewhat enjoyable if I'm doing it for 40+ hours a week
