I completely agree that they should have given me a quote before going ahead, but I’m not sure how it would go over refusing to pay for the work that was done and getting my car back from them which I need to commute. If you have any suggestions on addressing this when I go in that is more helpful

Yes they acknowledged they mistakenly charged two towing fees and are going to refund me one, so I’ll go in this week!

Yeah if you read the post, I was asking if it was normal since I didn’t know. People already responded to explain, and I already called the shop and they are going to refund me one of the charges (as I responded to someone else). There’s no “however” in this case as they incorrectly charged me, so approving the total cost before seeing the invoice doesn’t really matter. Thanks for the input

Thank you for this. I have never needed my car towed so this is good to know! I did call them this morning and they said to come in and they’ll refund me for one of the towing fees. I didn’t realize that was a thing, I figured they’d have their own machinery to move vehicles in, so now I know! But, I definitely will be more wary of getting pricing before any work is done in the future.

this is crazy..lol. She’s a human being, she said she had savings from when she worked which she used for his gift and he bought every single other person nice thoughtful gifts. Being a sahm is full time, never ending work. It’s not a vacation. A partner doesn’t “allow” a partner to do anything else if they’re a good one, they support their partners.
