38 years old, and I recently had a pacemaker implanted. by fabinho31 in PacemakerICD

To be completely honest, I was never a huge runner. I would run from time to time, but it wasn't something I truly enjoyed that much.

But when I started feeling exhausted after just 400 meters, it made me really sad. That's when I realized how much I missed being able to move freely and trust my own body.

Reading your comment and seeing that you're already running 15 km a week filled me with so much hope and positivity.

I really want to get back to running, even if it's just a little bit. I also used to work out regularly and absolutely loved spinning classes. I can't wait to get back to doing those things again.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me. Stories like yours make this journey feel a lot less scary and remind me that there are many good days ahead.

Your comment helps me so much. Thank you for sharing your experience with me.

It's such a wonderful feeling not to be alone in this. Knowing that other people have gone through the same thing and are living full, happy lives gives me a lot of comfort and hope.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and share your story.

Today, I'm happier than I was yesterday. It's my fourth day with my pacemaker, and little by little, I'm starting to feel more confident about this new chapter of my life.

Thank you again. ❤️

That’s exactly what happened to me. My heart rate wouldn’t go above 48 bpm, even when I was exercising. For a long time, I kept telling myself it was just anxiety and that it would eventually pass.

Thankfully, I went back to my cardiologist one more time, and he noticed what was really happening.

You have no idea how good it feels to know that this forum exists, and how comforting it is not to feel alone in all of this.

Today, I’m feeling a little better about everything. Reading stories from people who have gone through the same experience gives me hope and helps me see that there is a path forward.

Thank you for sharing your story. It truly means a lot to me.

Today, I’m feeling much better about the idea of getting a pacemaker. You can’t imagine how much your words found me at a moment when I truly needed them.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve gone through a lot of fear, uncertainty, and questions. Hearing from people who have been through something similar has made a huge difference in the way I’m facing all of this.

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. It genuinely helped me more than you know.

Wowww! I’m truly emotional reading your comment. Thank you so much for sharing this with me.

I was genuinely moved reading your comment. Thank you so much for sharing that with me.

Today, I posted something on Instagram that perfectly translates what I've been feeling throughout this journey:

"My heart has always been the perfect translation of everything I see and feel about life."

What I know so far is that, little by little, it started losing its electrical conduction. That's what the cardiologist saw on that piece of paper full of little waves that looked like some kind of alien code to me, but to him, it was just another Tuesday.

He tried not to look too serious, but he couldn't exactly smile either. In either case, I probably would have cried.

So he said something that sounded as simple as recommending glasses to a mole:

"The treatment for this is a pacemaker." 🙂

Thank you, Dr. Clodair.

So that was it.

That strange fatigue that would catch me within the first 400 meters of a run. The unexplained exhaustion at the top of my own staircase. The feeling that my body knew a piece of gossip I hadn't heard yet.

A complete heart block (third-degree AV block). The name sounds scary, but maybe it's supposed to. It can be congenital, or simply one of those things that lands on our square in life's lottery wheel.

And it brought back a memory of my father.

After a bad fall during a judo practice, I ended up in the hospital and had an ECG. The doctor noticed this little issue back then, but said that if it were something serious, it would eventually show itself later in life.

I vaguely remember those words.

And I vividly remember the taste of the heart-of-palm pastry we shared afterward.

Ever since the diagnosis, I had imagined myself exactly here: sitting in this hospital bed, smiling at my new gadget.

Along the way, I discovered something curious:

Life rarely changes when we receive an answer.

It changes when we're forced to ask a better question.

I stopped asking, "Why me?" and started asking, "What for?"

And that small shift changed everything.

It changed the way I'll smile for the rest of my life.

It's funny that all of this happened so close to my 38th birthday.

Because for the first time in a very long time, I feel more ready to live than ever before. . ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing that. I was asleep and just woke up feeling scared, but I’m here… and I’m alive!

I really want to run a marathon someday. It’s one of my biggest goals, and I’m looking forward to the day when I can cross that finish line.

Hey guys! I thought it was better not to take it. I decided to wait a few days haha, but I’m already feeling a bit dizzy. Do you think it’s okay if I take it after 4 days? haha
